View Full Version : I flashed my 3310 with a different software - Help!

I briefly explain what I did:
I flashed a Nokia 3310 with a different version of the software from another 3310, modded with spymode scripts of g3n0lite and the 3310 doesn't work well anymore, that is the keyboard is always locked!!
So (I haven't much experience with flashing!) I read that what I did causes trouble because of Eeprom, that is if Mcu + Ppm and Eeprom are not the same version, the phone doens't work (in fact!!)
(I also read that in some software versions (maybe the most recent ones??) Eeprom is "emulated" in Mcu, or Ppm, so I don't know if what I said is correct, that is if the problem actually depends from Eeprom).
So here
http://www.id2.cz/partial.htm
I found a complete software (Mcu + Ppm + Eeprom - what "cz" means??), but first to flash I'd need to know if it is possible to write all in the phone, for example with Nokia DCT3 flasher by Rolis.
Can anyone help me?

cz is for Czech Republic as it is for Italy ;)
your phone got always locked because it must have been the first time you flashed the phone with modded firmware, right? I vaguely remember that happening whenever i flashed phones that had never been flashed before.
The solution is simple: just make a full reset and phone will go back to normal operating
Now for eeprom issue:
Old DCT3 had two separate chips to store different kind of data. One flash chip with the firmware (MCU+PPM) that could only be modified outside the phone and the "flashed" into it; and another chip , a real eeprom (3210 have a 24C128 PIC), that was accessed by the phone itself when operated by user.
Recent DCT3 eliminated the eeprom chips since nokia managed to emulate it in the flash chip and can be divided in those three areas (and that's why it's so easy to repair eeproms - no need for a programmer ;) )
Here's something i found:
-----MCU is a base software where all settings for mobile are installed.Like win for pc.
-----PPM is only a language pack+tones (t9 also)
-----EEPROM is a security part of flash where IMEI,NETWORK SETTINGS,LOCKS etc are stored.

Thank you!
So Eeprom should't have nothing to do with the problem the phone doesn't work?
I'll try to reset te phone with a program, since I can't from the phone!
Must I use flasher cable or data cable??
I must say I also flashed phones never modded before and they worked fine!
But this Eeprom chip is also in old 3310?
I ask you this because when I applied the g3onlite scripts, for example shortkey_main, it asked me to choose the model:
33xx old and 33xx new
Which one should I choose?
krisha wrote me this:
"load your file, load the scripts to the lower window. press run script for each script. as free ram use 00100014"
even if in "safe ram", for example for old 33xx, there is as value "00100D04", so I changed it, right?

To apply changes in phone settings is alway used what i call MBUS tools (programs) since they operate on the phone by using some commands sent by an MBUS communication cable (phone must be able to turn ON) connected to the serial port (COM) or, as i have on my laptop, to an USB port with an usb-rs232 adapter
What genolite refers to as an old 33xx is related to some RAM areas used to store data while operating the phone. The term "safe RAM" is due to knowing that area was safe to be used by modded firmware since original firmware would not use it

Thank you Maestrini, I resetted the phone and now it works well!
You think Krisha meant "00100D04", the value that is actually written as safe area, instead of "00100014" as he wrote me or I must instead change it?
Just a last thing:
do you know a official site of kNok-Phoenix and Nokia DCT3 flasher by Rolis, where I can find the latest versions of the softwares?
I was also looking for a guide for them, for example in kNok-Phoenix in Phone settings I can't understand the difference between Reset phone settings, Reset user interface settings, Reset device settings, Reset full factory settings and other options.

i can't recall safe ram's correct values by i think latest version of genolite uses the correct one
i do not know knok versions but as for Rolis i understand that there's a 5.13 version considered non-official (i think) and buggy, there's a 4.79 version where Rolis merged two functions in one program (MBUS tool and Flasher) but that gives error warning about some response from phones (i couldn't flash 3330 with it) and finally the version 4.78b also called "Banana Flasher" due to the icon used (a banana) considered by many (and me) the best flasher around
If you want to flash many phone or many times one phone (modders/reversers need it) you choose Rolis since is a very fast flasher, but if you wanna do som special flashing/erase operations then you choose Knok
