I have a 3310 datacable which sits under the battery. No matter what software i use it will not detect it.
I sent the cable back for a replacement and it still doesnt work. I have even tried a different computer and different phones.
Maybe im doing something wrong, or maybe the cables are just useless, but everyone else who buys them off ebay seems to have no trouble.
I downloaded a program called LMLinkTest and it always fails.

If you use Win XP, you must use Userport (search with Google) to flash.
If you flash with a notebook, maybe you have my same problem (I have a Compaq Armada M700), because of the parallel port, which in some notebooks seems be different from the one on desktops, and I couldn't find a solution!

Oh, I just noticed you referred to datacable, so I don't think what I wrote is helpful to you!

Are you sure they didn't send you same cable without repairing it? It's common for people to open the cables lead and find out that some wires are soldered to the wrong places or even not soldered at all
My advice is for you to open the phone and clean the board, specially the pads that make contact with the cable pins
My second advice is to open the part that sits under the battery and check if everything is well connected (look this forum for pinouts and cable schemes) because everything has its own location
You can also try to find someone with cables and have it read your phone to see if it's indeed the cause of the problem
cheers
