i bought the phone in bahrain. not through any service provider. there, the only service is a prepaid one called batelco. you just buy a sim card and recharge its minutes when they run out. i have tried 3 different codes, none have worked. here is my info, i cant find a solution on the forum anywhere.
v 05.54

nokia 3100. i tried using the DCT4 with griffin gen, network is batelco, country is bahrain. i tried only the last code, it didnt work. earlier i had paid 7 dollars to a site who then emailed me 2 codes, which didnt work. so now i have 2 tries left and im afraid i will end up locking the phone out for good.

Ok, let's see.
I suppose you still got the codes that that paid service sent you.
Generate a set of codes using Original GEN (32779), and check if they're different than the ones that were sent to you. If they are different, try the seventh JUST ONCE.
Post results please, so we can keep a track on the serials working.
If it does not work, post again.
Best regards

ok, i checked the original codes vs. the ones the service gave me, they were different. so i tried just the 7th one from the original gen, no worky. so i have 1 try left.

Strange it has not worked. My bet would be going with one of the newest serials... and I would pick up my local yellow pages to look for a small phone repair shop that can flash my phone... just in case ;)
On of the newest serials, that has been reported to work on 3100 dated on july '05 from Amena (Spain) is serial ONE.
I'd generate the codes with that serial and try code seven. But, there's no guarantee it will work, as I was pretty sure that Original should have worked (indeed, I can't believe it's already blacklisted in mid 04 handsets).
Well, post results, to see if ONE works.

i might off the track here but you say you didn't buy the phone from aqny service provider. So how can you tell the phone is locked to that particular provider?
First of all you must let us know the full details like what error messages you get when entering the code and with which SIM card the phone works with. Have you tried more then one to be sure it's locked?
cheers

Actually Mr. mestrini, I think you are ON the track. Original serial blacklisted on mid 04 firmware sounds quite strange.
Let's see what happens.

you are completely right. i don't know that it is locked to that provider. i bought the phone in a store. the cell phone service in bahrain is nothing but a prepaid wireless service. no sign up required. you just goto the store, buy a sim card, and put money on it. then use it. the service is called batelco. I am putting a t-mobile sim card in. when i turn the phone on with the t-mobile sim card in, it says 'Security Code'. usually, the security code is 12345 or 00000 or something, but they dont work. so thats when i came online and asked about it, thats why i thought it was 'locked'. i was just trying to unlock it. every code i have entered (the 15 character code) comes back saying code error. i havent recieved the cannot undo restriction message yet. what are the effects of turning on a phone that is known to be locked with a different sim card in it? Does everyone else get the 'Security Code" box on the screen?

Sent your IMEI to my PM

why?
krazyk011 just said that the message is "Security Code" and to get to this message the phone must be already unlocked
So the solution here appears to be calculating a master code to reset Security Code to default or manage a cable and an FBUS program to read the code
cheers

Well, Mr Gieffel maybe is trying to do that. If my memory does not fool me, the master code calculator worked through imei, but I could be wrong since I only saw a screenshot, (I don't have a symbian phone... got to upgrade, it's just that my 1100 holds up the beating it receives :D ).
