Hi All,
I've got a new Nokia 6680 from T-Mobile in Germany, as always there is a firware with T-mobile branding. First af all I went to the Nokia service center and ask them to update the firmware, before I did there an update for 6600 and everything was perfect. But this time they told me that if I have 6680 with T-Mobile branding they can only install firmware with branding and it's not pissible any more to install original nokia firmware. I forgot to write down the version of firmware that I had on my cell , but I just told them, thinking that this guy on reception know nothing, that they have to update to the latest firmware, he said ok no problem you can pick up your cell in an hour. And that was my mistake
When I came in an hour they told me that they have some problem with updating firmware and that they sent it to the other service center and it will take about 10 days.

Any way, maybe I have luck and I will receive my new 6680 with new firmware and without branding. But does any one know about new Nokia regulations with branding firmware update. Where or how I can install a new firmware without branding.

Nokia, like Sony-Ericsson, is not "allowed" to remove the branding on the phone. I think theres also limitations in the software the sevice centers use, that prevents them from instal unbranded firmware.

Pretty stupid - but on the other side, the operators have paid Nokia money to have the phone branded, so they would not be happy if the customers could get it unbranded that easy ;-)

Anyway, you can have it debranded with a BB5 flasher like J.A.F.
