Hello,

I've used Nokiafree to try and unlock a 3220 RH-37 phone however virgin isn't in the list for Australia.

Could anyone give some help please?

Thanks

The problem with Virgin Australia seems to be that it is not a "real" network, instead a ghost network that borrows part of the deployed network of other carriers (similar to the Tracfone case)

As far as I know, the agreement was made between Virgin and Optus. But I don't know if they use the same network code.

Until someone grabs a Virgin Australia phone and reads the network code with a box, there's no certainty to which network code should be used.

Well I've got a useless phone sitting here atm. If you can tell me whats involved in reading the code then i'll be happy to give you the results.
I might head down to an optus shop tomorrow and talk to a friend there, see what info I can gather.

Thanks for your time.

Well, the main problem with reading a network code is that you need special equipment -a box, specifically.

You can unlock the phone at a small repair shop, and for the same fee, if you ask him nicely, the tech may tell you the network code before flashing the phone.

If you are going to unlock the phone on a shop, ask the tech guy that before he flashes the phone, first read the network code and tell which is, so we can add it in our database.

That is the main problem.

Well, if you do that, we will upload Virgin Australia network code ASAP on the online calc, and will update the database. The problem is, that as a community, we depend on that :o

If you can, we will be grateful, and cases like yours will be solved.

Thanks in advance anyways (no matter if you can or not)!
