I'm just wondering what other OS's there are as an alternative/competitor to Symbian? In regards to Smart Phones.
I know there's two types of Symbian, Nokia commonly use the Series 60, and then Sony Erricson use the IUQ or something.
What else is there and what are the advantages of them? How do they compare to Symbian? Are Windows Mobile and Blackberry two?

So far on my list I've found both versions of Symbian (Series 60 and IUQ), Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Palm with phone capabilities. Can't seem to find any were that tells you about the advantages of any or gives comparisons and that. i think it'd be an interesting read...

Motorola E680/E680i using Linux OS....not bad, only lack of 3rd party software.

Nokia also uses the Symbian platforms s80 and s90.
For example the N9500 runs on s80 and the N7710 uses the s90.
I was also interested in the difference between the Symbian and the Windows Mobile, so I got myself a Qtek 8100.
The WM 2003se seems to be quite good and stabile. Easy to use and somehow it also feels familiar to me, for some reason. Itīs not as interesting as the Symbian is, though.
As a minus for the WM would be that all the apps seem to remain running when exiting them. So I always need to go to the Task Manager to turn them off. Strange?

had the same problem on my XDA II, dont know why microsoft felt this was needed, if you press close you want the app to close not just move to back ground, i did find an application though which did force applications to close when you exit
