I bought a 6230 from ebay and got it yesterday, When I put a telstra or a vodafone sim card in, it says when i make a phone call, This handset has been blocked on this network for further information call ur customer provider... Can I unlock this? By any chance?
Well I checked the imei number on this site (http://www.amta.org.au/default.asp?Page=405) And it's blocked by the optus provider... So I cant get hold of the dude who sold me this item..:( What to do? Can this be unlocked some how?

It cannot be un-blocked at the moment - but the solution may not be far away the way JAF is going at the moment :)

If u bought it on ebay - did you pay with paypal? If so you can launch a complaint with them to get your money back, paypal usualy favours the buyer so you stand a good chance!

The only other alternative is to sell it abroad where it will work.

Good luck - Steve.

A flashing phone. Nevertheless, your solution it's not there, it's on pay pal, because the guy sold you a barred/blocked/reported stolen phone, and that's illegal.

Best regards
Edge

/EDIT: I just saw the answer and re-read my post. It's not a flashing phone (that doesn't even exists, it's my new invention ;) ).... it's a box, a special device, that is able to flash phones among other things, and mr. squidgy described. Sorry, my mistake.

JAF is a nokia repair/unlocking tool that also has the capability to change the IMEI number of the phone and thus allow it to reconnect to the networks. However I should point out that in a lot of countries that is illegal. Furthermore the 6230 is not supported at present for this operation - but it may be in the near future.

I agree with EDGE, your best resource is complaints through paypal and/or ebay, as your item was not as described.
