I have a Nokia 3230 v3.0505.2, 19/2/05, RM-51 purchased a few days ago. I am a bit confused as to which of the two (DCT4 or DCT 3) codes should I use for this unit. Can someone guide me so that I can enter the IMEI number in the NF unlock calculator software to get the unlock codes.
Thanks in advance.

Dear Mr. Gieffel.... thank you for your reply to my query..... I tried the DCT 4 unlock codes on my Nokia 3230 unit but the codes do not work. I get the message "code error". I have so far made three attempts in unlocking as described in the instructions to unlock the codes. I am a bit worried that I have only two more chances to get the unlock codes right. Could someone guide me as to how I could get the right codes for the Nokia 3230 with the description of what codes are unlocked with each unlocking code. That would be a great help.
:-?

The Country is Oman and the operator is Oman Mobile (Net 422 02)
Once again, the IMEI number is :[removed] and the unit is Nokia 3230. Unit details : V3.0505.2, 19-02-05, RM-51
Looking forward to hearing from you. If it is allowed within this forum, you may write to me directly with the code to my email address instead of posting as a thread.
Thank you.

I apologise if I have made a mistake. However, since I was requested by a moderator to mention the country and the service provider's name I thought I would include the other details too.
Would really appreciate if someone could help with the details requested, as the mobile unit model number is not listed anywhere under DCT 4 category.
Thanks in advance.

I understand that it was a mistake, that's why I just said that you shall read the rules.
Mr. mestrini kindly asked you for more information -like country and network operator- since there are some special situations with certain providers-. But, please, read the rules so we don't pass this anymore ;).
Relating to your situation, I think your phone is listed in the DCT4 standalone version of NokiaFREE calc, which you can donwload here under the unlock codes section, or search for it in www.schwantz-i.com. If it's not listed, go to Options and ser the calc to expert mode, and from the dropdown list of phones select "DCT4".
As of which settings to use, the GEN is the biggest problem. I have no local experience and don't know about any specific setting in Oman networks, but my guess is they don't use any. So, mainly to options are viable. Asic 2 and GEN Original, or Asic 2 and GEN ONE. Generate the codes and try the seventh code from the list.
There has been some special cases (6010i if I remember correctly) where when you enter a code, nothing happens. Mostly it is that the phone needs a not accepted sim in it to register the codes.
Post results please, as it helps us to keep a track on which serial works!
Also, I'm moving this thread to the DCT4 Unlocking forum, it is the place where it belongs :D

I generated and tried both the options and I get "Code Error". Tried as per the instruction by removing the SIM card and enterinhg the code (7th from both lists). Those two attempts were the fourth and the fifth codes that I tried. I am now worried that I may not be able to use the unlock codes anymore. Can someone please throw somelight on this. I am sorry, the codes did not work.
Moderator,,,, I did not find the model 3230 in the downloaded file. I used DCT4(experts only) from the pull down menu and selected ASIC2+GENERAL and ASIC2+ONE to generate the codes.

I'm sorry but you're out of tries to unlock the phone with code. Now you must get an unlocking device or take it to a pro

oh man now I feel guilty, I did not know it was fourth and fifth try... goddamn it, those were my best bets...
i'm really sorry... unless there is someone with local experience all that we can do is guess... sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't (and those were my best guesses). I'm really sorry.
Cheers

A friend of mine is probably in the same situation. Is there a way to know when you've used all the tries to unlock a phone?
Thanks a lot!

Unfortunately by trial and error. When you type a correct code but all attempts are lost, instead of 'code error' message or 'phone restriction on' message you will receive 'cannot undo restriction'.
Too badly, there's no other way to know. Even if the five attempts have been used but you are still typing incorrect codes you will receive the normal code error messages. As a side note, the phone will still allow you to type codes. The problem is that when you type a correct one, it will say cannot undo restriction.

Thanks for that information. So far he hasn't got a "cannot undo restriction" message, so there's still hope that the number of tries is not restricted...
