I need help unlocking my nokia 6101b Rm-77 from T-mobile USA. I requested for the unlock code from t-mobile but it wouldn't unlock the phone. I always get "phone restriction on" message. I tried it with sim, without sim, foreign sim. I went through with t-mobile tech about unlocking several times but still couldn't have it unlock and they couldn't figure out why. 3x they sent me the exact same code and was told that that's the right code. I tried the code stated in this forum and the code generator for the 6101 but still couldn't unlock always say "phone restriction on".
Anybody successfully tried unlocking T-mobile USA nokia 6101b? what specs like box serial#, etc should I use?
Try ASIC 2, ASIC 6 (32821)

If you're sure it was locked to T-mobile, use the T-mobile serial (I think it was 32835 but I'm not sure, check it).
Anyways, there's no guarantee that it will work, but it has a good chance to work. Be careful with your five tries limit.

Someone suggested to me 32835. I tried +1 and +7 code but didn't work. I called t-mo again asking if my phone is blocked and told me if my phone's blocked it will say blocked. All I messages I got since the first try is "phone restriction on". t-mo gave a code but it wouldn't unlock my phone. I asked them 3x and gave me same code 3x.

I successfully unlocked my nokia 6101b on T-mobile in the U.S. yesterday, here's how I did it...
If you take the battery out, you will find some information on the back of your phone. Mine is RM-77 and the model is 6101b.
1)Download the nokia code generator from unlock.nokiafree.org
2)You need to obtain your IMEI, do this by pressing *#06# -or- you can find it on the back of the phone when the battery is removed.
3) Open the nokia code generator you downloaded in step 1. Select DCT-4, enter your IMEI, and select USA as the country, and T-mobile as the provider. Also select ASIC-2. For the GEN menu, select original.
4) Click calculate and use the 7th code generated.
Considerations - the first time I tried this, it did not work, I read that the phone needs an unrecognized sim card to be inserted first. With that known, i borrowed my roommates cingular sim and placed it in my phone. When i powered on, it prompted me for an unlock code and I used the 7th which successfully unlocked the phone. I tested the phone with a cingular sim card and it is indeed unlocked.
I tried to make this procedure as easy to follow as possible however if you're not savy enough you probably shouldn't give this a try. Use this procedure at your own risk.
ps- i bought my 6101 as a t-mobile to go phone and just put my sim card into it. If you want to upgrade, it saves you money than buying at a t-mobile corporate store, also, target has a price error and lists 79.99 as the price instead of 129.99.

Wow! I guess there are different codes to use for T-mo USA. Someone with a t-mo 2 Go (prepaid) told me to use 32835 and he was able to unlock his phone.
What is your firmware?
I got mine as an upgrade. Don't know if there's a difference between a subscriber and t-mo 2 Go phones. Is there?

what's the difference between GEN: asic 6 and asic 2? The unlock code that t-mo tech gave me (that didn't worked) is under asic 6 when I retrieve info using the code calc here.
Nokia 6101 is asic 6 or asic 2?? What is asic? Also t-mo use +1 not +7.
Follow-up
It didn't worked. same message "phone restriction on". It's probably easy to unlock prepaid T-mo phones.
Any T-mo subscriber who were able to unlock?

Keep in mind that one step I did is putting a foreign sim card in my phone, its been reported that some 6101 phones need this to happen before it will accept the code. In my case, i used my roommates cingular sim card.
T-mobile to go phones (pre-paid phones) are the same phone as a post paid customer can get from the store. I chose to get the pre-paid phone because i didn't want to sign another contract to get a price i was will to pay, and also because target mis-labeled the price of the 6101 as 79.99 instead of 129.99 (error in my favor eh?)

Well, there is a confusion. Asic, indeed it is ASIC, and it means Application Specifif Integrated Circuit. It defines a specific part of the DCT4 algorithm (among other things I guess, I'm not expert in reverse engineering).
The confusion arises when you take in account that there is a serial called "ASIC 6" which should not be confused with the asic type of the phone.
I hope this clears up a little.

I put in the unlock code that t-mo gave me using the code calc here (to get serial#), juggle around with the GEN using the box serial# to look for that code given to me by t-mo. I found the code under Gen: ASIC 6, custom serial# 32825. Just wondering, on the forums I've browse nokia 6101 is under ASIC 2 not ASIC 6 like the code generated by t-mo tech. The code from t-mo: 818901234611057 and told me to use +1 (#pw+.......+1#).
Also, on forums I've read someone mention unlocking several nokia 6101 and found that not all phones were successfully unlock with the same GEN and box serial#. I asked one at another forum and said he was able to unlock his prepaid t-mo using ASIC 2 serial# 32835 using 7th code without a problem.
I've read others here that used ASIC 2 original didn't worked and so is ASIC 2 serial# 32835 but these worked to others. It makes me wonder.
I did try using a different sim but with no luck.
I'm not sure if my phone has been blocked already since no message appeared that it's blocked. The only message I got is "phone restriction on" nothing else not even an "error code". "Phone restriction on" message is also new to t-mo tech. they said should say "off" not "on" and for incorrect tries is "error". My guess is some t-mo 6101 phones were probably messed up even before it got in the box. Just a guess.
Anyway, I called T-mo customer service today and told rep that I had 3 code request and they mention on the third email I got from them (with the same code again) that if code doesn't work, I could request for a phone exchange request. There you go I asked for a phone exchange request. I went over with t-mo tech step-by-step before so they know my problem. T-mo rep said she knows its 3 or 4 error tries but she said that it should say it's blocked (something like that). This is also what T-mo tech said too, should say blocked. Rep said she's not sure if I'm getting an unlock phone but most probably will be locked (so I will be asking help again here when I get the replacement phone). but for sure she said it's going to be refurbished but warranty is continuation of my orig. phone (11 months left). I hope I will have luck with the replacement. I will also request T-mo for the unlock code again and see.

Ok... there seems that the confussion continues.
Codes are generated through four variables: imei, network code, asic and serial. The asic for your phone is asic 2. The serial used by T-mobile was asic 6. This is a denomination problem that you must not oconfuse. The other options for serial are Original, V2, etc. That has nothing to do with asic type.
Certaily it is strange that the code that T-Mobile gave to you was generated using serial Asic 6, but, if they gave to you that, it shall work. Have you tried to enter the code with a not accepted sim in the phone?

The phone has just had 5 incorrect codes entered, and can no longer be unlocked with codes, unfortunately.
The code provided by T-Mobile used Serial (or gen) of 32825, not 32821 (or ASIC 6)
Crux did a great job with the program, but to call the serial 32821 asic 6 was a BIG BIG mistake.
All serials "belong" to carriers. They were issued with the original unlocking boxes each of which had it's own serial. Hence T-Mobile USA use 32825 and T-Mobile UK use 32802.
This is one lesson that is continually missed on this forum. Do not ever worry about which serial to use. Just use one that it currently used by any network or carrier. 32802 or 32825 will unlock ANY phone, as they are both currently used by T-Mobile. This is a major problem with the Crux unlocker (and all others) as they remain in circulation for a long time. Someone who has Curx unlocked V2.0 with find they are still being told to use serial 32820, which should never ever be used any more.
By the way, if anyone is reading his post in 2006 or 2007, don't use serial 32802 or 32825 - just find out the serial being used by any carrier at the time!

Yes, I tried it with a not accepted sim but I get a phone restriction message. I went through first with t-mo tech for input of codes (step-by-step unlock without making any mistake) before I sought help here (after the second unlock request with the same code and another t-mo tech with no luck). I've been through with t-mo tech 4-5x and third code request came back the same code and they put a note that if that their code is correct and if it doesn't work, I could asked for a phone exchanged request.
Under the quick find box serial# of code calc: 818901234611057 code generated by t-mo came up box serial# 32825 (fell under custom).
I used my phone's IMEI, network code of t-mo, ASIC, serial# 32825 to look for that code. I just switch to different ASIC like 2,5,6,7 (without changing the other infos) and found code: 818901234611057 is in ASIC 6.
I don't know why the code didn't worked. IMEI was checked several times. Code came up here with serial# 32825 and t-m0 use 1st code. I read people were able to unlocked t-mo prepaid with ASIC 2, box serial#s original: 32779 or custom: 32835 using 7th (code on either serial#). Another person on another forum, who unlocked several 6101s, mentioned there are some 6101s that wouldn't unlock with same code used (that were able to unlock the others 6101s).

In the same thread there were reports that certain 6101 were doing this fresh out of box!
It really is not that unsual (unusual, but not that unusual, if you see what I mean) for a phone to have had 5 tries out of the box.
The same thing happens with other models giving "Cannot Undo.." out of the box.
Do you recall the class action against Apple regarding "new" computers actually being second hand returns? The same problem is endemic in the mobile phone industry. Many the phones returned under the 14 day cooling off rules are "recycled" as new phones. How many times have you heard of someone trying to unlock the phone, failing, and returning the phone?

Would the mods allow an IMEI post for once? If bugslife could post his IMEI, as this is now the second time someone has said that they had received a network supplied code for a 6101 that was ASIC6 not 2.

I don't think mods will allow it. That code supplied to me by t-mo didn't worked anyway. So probably not ASIC 6. Was that other person able to unlock the phone with the ASIC 6 ? Before I sought help here, I went through with t-mo tech to unlock the phone. He didn't believe me at first when I told him the message is "phone restriction on". he said, are you sure it says "on" not "off"? He said if incorrect code it should say "error .." or something else not "phone restriction on" and if phone's blocked it will say so or some message will appear.
Others here were able to unlock with ASIC 2 and using different serial#s.
I got the phone as an upgrade. I don't think it's a seconds (or a returned item).
Here's how I got that phone: Sept. 12 went to t-mo for upgrade the following week (about 6-7 days -- want to check the features out that's why took that long) returned the phone due to some dirt inside that camera lens (yeah had a little discussion with the salesperson coz doesn't want to accept return but change mind and apologized). Salesperson took out a fresh sealed t-mo box and had a phone exchanged (this phone that I have now). Then when I got this phone, I called and asked for an unlocked code. After 24 hrs they emailed me that code. I entered the code once without error but got "phone restriction" on message. So I called t-mo and was referred to tech and went through the same process but got the same message. tried with a different sim, too but no luck. He did another code request. he said a different level of tech does the coding. I got the same code from their Sim Unlock Dept. Third request same code given again and they noted that that is the correct code for my phone's IMEI and if didn't worked I could request for an exchanged. I just hope that replacement phone that I'm going to have nobody ever tried unlocking it.
My guess its been messed up even before it went in the box. Somebody messed up somewhere with some 6101s.

Here's what i entered:
IMEI:#
NETWORK: USA - T-Mobile in all areas
GEN: Original
NOKIA MODEL: ASIC 2
Here's what i got in the next page:
IMEI:#
NETWORK: 31020
PHONE TYPE: 2
BOX: 32779
What line should i use ??
#7 or #1 ??
I've read here that in order for this to work you have to put a SIM card from a diferent company after you entered the codes, is that true?
Can someone help me out on this one please ?

Just wanted to let everyone know that I was successfully able to unlock my 6101 prepaid phone from T-Mobile, as well. I bought a To-Go phone from a corporate T-Mobile store here in NYC. I borrowed a Cingular SIM from some guy, put it in my phone, clicked on the center button to perform the "Undo" action, and then it asked me for the code. I followed the instructions given in Post #9 of this thread, and that's it. Worked just fine. Thanks.

I would like to unlock my t-mobile 6101b RM-77. I've been reading post here but not sure what's the correct way of unlocking. I have not tried unlocking this phone, yet. The only phone I tried unlocking is my old 3390 but that one has only one code so it's not a problem and was able to unlock without a sim in it. I can read the messages in my international sim card without a problem.
1. Should I use a foreign sim to unlock my 6101 phone? I only have a foreign (international sim card that's without a signal in the US. Is this ok to use for unlocking?
2. What box serial #? Should I use 7th code or 1st code.
3. How do I enter the code with a foreign sim in the phone? Do I have to include the #pw+........+1# or just the plain 15 digit# (123451234512345) when ask for code?
4. Will I be able to unlock my phone without a sim card inside?

I got my replacement phone from t-mo yesterday. Looks brand new (like what the t-mo tech told me since it's just a new phone). I just power it on today and put in a different sim (thought it was unlock -- I requested them if they can unlock it but it's not). Said phone restricted with that stop sign blinking. I Power off.
Nervous to try unlocking again. I'm skeptical of asking t-mo for unlock code (again) since I think they mess up with the codes 3x.
I just follow the steps here.
From code calculator:
DCT4
IMEI: (of phone)
USA
T-mobile (31020000)
ASIC 2
Original: 32779
use the 7th code
Without putting any sim card
Power on
Message appear: "insert sim"
Just type 7th code generated
#pw+.......+7#
I was nervously staring at the screen and flashed "Phone Restriction Off" with the check sign in a box. I tried a different sim and it worked!!
Many thanks to all!!
PS: my firmware is the same as the one I posted from my orig. 6101 (v3.39). Also take note that some 6101s are hard lock from the start (from what i read in other boards -- person was unlocking several of these and some wouldn't unlock). Another code given to me by a user in another boards his tmo 6101 prepaid was unlocked using 32835 and 7th code.
added to say I'm a t-mo subscriber (since voicestream days) and code generated by t-mo Sim unlock dept. is unableto unlock my 6101 phone and requested code 3x. I was told by them through email if code they provided this time do not work, (gave me same code 3x) I can request for a handset exchange which I did.

I wonder if MNC used in those non-unlockable phones are 31020000 or some other?
Look at a pic i have from an ITU (International Telecommunication Union) pdf file
released June 2005 where they list all the available MNC for each country provider ;)

Good to hear that you have unlocked your phone
All TMobile phones that I have unlocked have only ever required the first code
I have not come across a Service Provider in Northern America that has required Code 5 or 7 which are GID lock and multilock
One interesting thing though is that some TMobile phones in the US which are sim locked V66 and 6010 actually accept Foreign Tmobile simcards ie TMobile UK, TMobile DE etc
What does those code mean? Why are some phones unlock in code 1, 5, 7, etc. Does this mean provider lock a lot of functions in the phone like code 7 is multilock?
I heard even if you unlock a t-mo phone you can't web browsing using another provider's sim? Also, If you buy an unbranded phone and put t-mo sim you can't web browse or use other t-mo functions?

GID locks are generally used when there are virtual companies using the same network and when companies dont want you using a contract simcard in a prepay handset. Also I have heard that in Portugal that they used to sim lock the handset to the sim using the MSN lock!
Sometimes a network can lock a setting like GPRS to a handset, but usually you can ask any network to download GPRS settings to your handset as there is several available slots available
When you buy a sim free handset it may not have all the available customisation settings on it but dont see why it can be flashed are vice versa for a network branded handset

To check for network operators:
Shortcut you press: MENU (on main screen) then press 9, 9, 7, 2 on the keypad it will then search for available network and will show if any is found.
Long way you press: MENU, then SETTINGS, then PHONE, then Operator selection, then Manual. It will start to search for network.
guys can someone confirm if the nokia 6101b rm-77 3.39 supports 850/900/1800/1900 or not? someone says it doesnt support 900? manual say it does!!!
any good reply?

I wonder if MNC used in those non-unlockable phones are 31020000 or some other?
Look at a pic i have from an ITU (International Telecommunication Union) pdf file
released June 2005 where they list all the available MNC for each country provider ;)
check it out...

Nokia 6101 is NOT a quad band (850/900/1800/1900).
There are 2 versions of Nokia 6101/6102
1. Asia/Europe: 900/1800/1900
2. USA/Canada: 850/1800/1900
If you got the phone from T-mobile USA or Cingular then you have 850/1800/1900.
Where (what counry) are you trying to use the phone and what provider? If your phone is USA/Canada version and the country you are in right now has only 900 or the sim provider you have (in that country) only uses 900 then your phone will not work or support that frequency. You need to be in a place and/or with a provider that uses 1800 for your phone to work.

Asic 2
serial T-Mobile (32802)
and use code 7

Good Day All;
I registered to thank everyone who posted their Nokia 6101b, Tmobile USA unlocking efforts, failures and successes. Following BugsLife experience I successfully unlocked my newly purchased 6101b. It's a prepaid unit I purchased at Taget (on sale until 11/26/05 for $99.99)...great deal. It seems identical to BugsLife phone (firmware, model, etc...).
I tried other calculators but they were returning codes that did not work. I believe the problem is that they were assigning automatically box/serial 33820 based on a 'V2' GEN assignment and not 'original' GEN which can be selected in the 'expert' mode of the downloadable calculator at nokiafree.org. Using 'original' assigns box/serial of 32779. Using the 7th code generated with 32779 unlocked my 6101b. Huzzah!!!! Many thanks!!!
Another point: I read in some of the other messages posted in the forums that the message 'Phone Restriction On' meant that the phone was permanently locked. I don't believe that's true. That's the message I received after entering my 1st incorrect code (using V2 box/serial 33820). My 2nd attempted code (using 'original' box/serial 32779) worked and I got the message "Phone Restriction Off"
One last thing: It was not necessary for me to put in a Sim from a different carrier. All along I was using a Tmobile sim transferred from my old Tmobile to go phone.
I hope this post was helpful. Keep the information sharing going.

That happens with some new models, since Nokia appears to change some internals. Specially 6230i and 6010 seem to be this case, but there could be others.

Just registered also to say thanks. Unlocked per post #9. Didn't install a SIM in and it worked like a charm.
However, I do have a question though. I have a prepaid Cingular SIM that I purchased about 4 months ago that I inserted in to double check after unlocking.
The phone takes it okay (no invalid sim notification) but I don't get any signal when using that SIM. Also, when I go in to Menu>Phone> there is no network selection option.
When I pop in my Tmobile SIM, everything is fine (good signal, network selction is there). Is this a function of the firmware?
TIA for everybody's help on this.

Newer Cingular Sims do not have the option to manually roam for a network
Are you sure? I didn't know that menu options were affected by the SIM. Gotta try that one, usually I only see if I get signal and if I can make a call, I don't check all the menu options...

must disagree here m8. "Cannot Undo Restriction" (or similar) shows after the tries limit has been reached no matter what code you enter - right or wrong ;)
btw, anyone knew that if one happens to enter less code digits (say, 14) and finish it with #1 or other lock, the phone accepts it as wrong attempt? This is jus a warning to be careful :P

Of course they are!
Just about everything is provisioned via the SIM
I dont know why CINGULAR has this stance
Most other networks allow you to change the Network
BTW This info is relevant to PAYG sims, I have never had the chance to read a contract sim
Interesting... all phones I have unlocked were contract ones.
Would it be casuality? I will start to pay attention to this point.

How can u be so sure that just about everything is SIM related? In DCT3 Developers Forum you can find scripts that allow to work with phones without SIM card inside and all the menus (except the "SIM menu") are present

If you guys downloaded nokia free's calc, try to unlock the 6101 as if it where a 3220.
Here's how:
Use model 3220 (RH 37)
Type IMEI
Select USA
Select T-mobile
Select ASIC 2
Select ASIC 6
On the "?" box it should read "32821"
Calculate
Use code 5 with a T-mobile SIM on the phone.
To all you people that got the phone at Target for $79.99, you lucky bxxxxxxs, I had to wait for it to be on special at $99.99, anyway, good luck.
The process works the same if try to unlock a 3220 or a 6101 on T-mo USA.

Ok, here's a bit of background as well as my findings...
I went to Target and bought 8 6101's. I have Tmo and have 4 lines on a family plan. I called Tmo CS and requested codes for four of the phones. Using Crux calc 3.20.03 I generated the boxkey used by inputing a Tmo supplied code. Bottom line, in using that boxkey, I checked all four IMEI's of the codes I already had...and they were all correct. So....heres the settings used...
DCT4 (expert)

I just unlocked my T-Mobile 6101b by following this procedure. I did not need a "foreign" sim. The original code I tried was unsuccessful and my phone said "phone restriction on". I then tried the above suggestions, used ASIC 2, and it worked.

This is VERY interesting. Am I correct in thinking that you tried code +1# on the first attempt and received "Phone Restriction On", then tried code +7# on the second attempt and it unlocked (and gave "Phone Restriction Off")??
Please reply.. this is critical to unlocking these phones.

Seems that T-Mobile is changing the locks used...
That would be a good answer to some unlocking problems that arouse in the last few months with US phones. We were thinking of alternative MCC+MNC, but a different lock could be an answer too.

Because Mr Mestrini
I have several unlocked Cingular Phones a V3, 6230b and 3120b
When Cingular SIMs are installed into these phones the Network Menu is not present
When other SIM cards are installed (TMobile US Orange UK Vodafone UK) the Network menu is present!
Netork operators send sim updates to your phone, which can remove and add various menus onto your phone, as needed according to your subscription
You call it "Network menu" whereas i called it "SIM menu"
I was refering to other firmware menus. Those are present in firmware while the SIM menu is read from SIM card

So Mr EdgeCrusher
This person has contacted TMOBILE US customer services, obtained codes for the handsets and used reverse engineering to obtain the GEN serial
A few little facts abouts US operators- None of the at this moment in time use GID locks or SP locks, all US phones that I have unlocked were with basic network locks
TMOBILE use Network Subset Locks, which in general, means that you can insert ANY Tmobile SIM into any Tmobile handset, which would be a bad idea if they had started GID locking their handset
The principal idea of multilocking handsets is where the network is a virtual network, and other software is not been used in conjunction ie Tracfone, or in relation to network not wanting their PAYG handsets to be used as contract handsets!
I don't quite understand why you 'clarify' the reason behind using more than one lock. Besides the fact that your concept of multilocking is certainly not a generalization (there are proven exceptions for your statement), please notice what was posted by mr. mochanges and the comments given by mr. fatboymal about this.
If you would like to make your statement more clear, I would be glad to discuss it. We have to admit that even if we can know quite something about what carriers 'usually' do, we can not of course state a permanent generalization. It is just as possible a new MCC+MNC as a change in T-Mobile traditions.
Although I have to admit that T-Mobile has a certain tendency to change their network codes or use new serials, my comments were limited to the question made by mr. fatboymal and what was posted by mr. mochanges. As you can read in those words, mr. mochanges did not set clear which code number he used, and mr. fatboymal asked about this. We don't know the firmware dates of the phones unlocked in this thread, at least not all of them. Certainly, we do not know the firmware dates of the phones you are quoting nor the firmare date of mr. mochanges' phone.
Does there exist the possibility of a new MCC+MNC for T-Mobile? yes. Does there exist the possibility of T-Mobile using another lock? yes.
Best regards
Edge
PS: by the way, using the calc to find out which serial was used to generate a code, is NOT reverse engineering. Reverse engineering is what Mr. NokDoc does, that is, reading and decoding flash files.

Interesting answer skirting over the issue that a member had unlocked quite a few 6101b,s with serial 33055
(...)
From MY experience with TMobile I would say it is just a serial(GEN) issue, as with previous experience, their phones will only unlock with certain serials ie 32802
It's interesting this point. In the sticky thread about GEN study, we have found that several handset accept a range of 2048 possible serials. In the table that mr. mestrini created, supposedly any phone should accept a range of possible serials and not a single one. But, as usual for every rule, there are exceptions like the one you mention.
The main problem is that the DCT4 internal file structure and algorithm (not only the code algorithm but the while firmware) has not been decoded, thus we do not know how exactly is the process that the phone uses to admit or reject a code.
Now, personally I do think that the most probable thing is a new serial or a new network code, referring to T-Mobile unlocking issues. What we now have to find is if these phones that have been unlocked with a now known serial accept a range of serials or only that one.
If only we could access nokia internals...

Can you imagine as a corporate identity, how much grieve it would have calculating codes with multiple MCC+MNC. Also remember that every new MCC+MNC would mean a new laptop, software, hardware etc to calulate codes for the Network
As an aside Subway, note that the carriers/networks do not tend to calculate the codes themselves - they simply apply to Nokia. Nokia have records of exactly which settings are needed for each phone.
My main point regards the "Phone Restriction On" message. Up to this point I have assumed it meant that 5 tries had been exceeded. I use Gen 32802 on T-Mobile phones and have seen this message on some using code +1 (yet have successfully unlocked a few hundred).
However, I have now seen a couple of posts (one of them is yours, though wih you it happened in the reverse) where the phone gave "Phone Restriction On" using a +1# code, but accepted a +7# code.
This does NOT neccessarily mean that there is more than one lock in place (in fact as you say, I am sure that only 1 lock is used), or that the GEN has changed.
There are parallels here with the "Not Allowed" message. I know of a few models that have only 1 lock, but refuse the +7, and also others which have 2 locks, and refuse the +7, and others with more than 1 lock, that refuse the +1, but accept a +7.
Without getting my hands on a phone that gives "Phone Restriction On" I cannot say for sure. But we can ask others to try. If you get the "Phone Restriction On" using code +1 (and are using sensible GEN eg 32802), then try the +7 code and report the result. It's worth a try in the interest of research? I'll do the same and post the result

I fully agree that it's worth of trying. However, I do think that this issue has a closer relation to some change on nokia internals.
When I was last in the US I managed to unlock a Cingular 6102 with code +1, however when I tried code +7 it just stated Code Restriction On, I reentered code +1 and the Phone stated No Phone Restriction!
Well... that is normal. When mr. mestrini and me were trying different serials on my phone, before going with other serials I knew that my provider used always code 7 to lock phones. After succesfully unlocking my handset with code 7, I tried the first code from the same set and the phone gave me "code error". As you can see, it did not display "phone restriction on" like some 6101. That's why I think it has more relation to a change in Nokia internals.

When using +7# and 32802, gave a second "Phone Restriction On"

When using +7# and 33055, gave a second "Phone Restriction On"

Mayb for your firmware, but it will not work with the 25-07-05 version.
I've currently got a person wanting to unlock his 6101B From Cingular USA, As soon as we get the right GEN we'll post it out to you all. :)

Interesting
I have noticed with newer Cingular sims they have been playing with the menus, you can NOW perform a manual roam but in LA you only get 31017 and 31038 but no TMobile coverage, even though I have full coverage on my Tmobile to go phone
It seems that enough people complained about the manual roaming option and its been enabled

Hi, I downloaded both versions of the unlock program, but neither has the Nokia 6101 option?
You said "1)Download the nokia code generator from unlock.nokiafree.org". Is this correct or did you actually use the online unlocker?
Would anyone know what is the difference between 6101 and 6101b?
Also, T-mob website says : "Domestic tri-band (850/1800/1900 MHz)"; does this really mean it is only domestic? Would I be able to use this overseas?
I'm looking at buying the 6101 ToGo w/ T-mob... Right now I have Nokia 6682 w/ Cingular and unfortunatelly by the time I realized that I won't be able to unlock it, the 30-day return period had expired. So I'd hate to be stuck with yet another phone that I won't be able to unlock, so PLEASE share any advice you might have!
THANKS All,
Lina
