Hello folks. I hope i have the right forum. I have 2 Nokia 6620 from rogers att canada. One unlocked on the first try. The second one...lol...no matter how many unlock codes i try i don't get to the 5 code limit. Strange? I have seen a friend reach the limit on his 6620 but not this second one...I enter the code and it simply says...please insert sim card after...however...if i put the seventh code in...i get the code error...but i can do it on and on and on forever...
Any ideas...I have never seen this...btw...both phones were purchased the same day...and i heard someone say that some rogers att phone simply will not unlock...true?
Thanx

Well.. I don't understand really. When you type in the code, what happens? because yoy say "the phone say insert sim card".

But, you don't specify if something happens. Does the phone display a message? because, if nothing is happening it's because the phone is not registering the code. Try entering the codes with a not accepted sim, and enter the codes.

Best regards

Really exact same phones...and that's what it displays...please insert sim card after every attempt...the tool avail here for the phone will spit out 7 choices of codes...only the seventh gives me an error...but i have recieved a code error over 10 times and it still allows me to attempt more...i used the code gen tool from here on the first phone and bingo on the first try.

Try entering the codes with a not accepted sim? What does this mean

In fact one can keep on typing codes forever as phone will always accept them; the problem is that after the 5th try the message is "Not Allowed" instead of "Code error" which simply means that only box and cable will unlock the phone

As for the "not accepted" it means that you must put a SIM from a different provider and use the dialogue displayed by phone to type the unlock code. Mr Edge suggested it since you say that phone asks to enter SIM card and that usually happens if you take too long to type next digit/char. If you read some posts you'll see that many have faced with the impossibility to type the last hash (#) and after that the "insert SIM" message should appear

that's it. please report back

cheers

Ok thanks...a lot of good info...but i assure you...I am doing this fast enough.
When I put the first six codes in....right after the last#...it simply says "insert sim card" but on the seventh code...it says code error...the strange part is....I have recieved a heap of code errors ...beyond five....and have yet to see "not allowed". Been on this for twelve hours now...lol

Were you suggesting trying to unlock it with a different operators sim card?

Again...thanx

strange occurrence :-?

and yes, we're advising to use a different operator's sim card but if it still doesn't work then i suggest you go back to the store or to a service center and make up a story about a bug/malfunction as the corrupted firmware is always a possible scenario to see if the phone gets reflashed (if not swapped)
