Anyone heard off or used the JAF BOX? :???:

PPL from other fourms can't stop talking about it!!

It can change imei numbers of alot of the nokia range....up to the 6230 i am told. They are working on it all the time. It is said that they should be the first box to unlock bb5 type phones i.e. 6630!!

Can anyone contribute to what I have said about the box and give us a better insight of whether it is a worthy product!!

ALSO DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE BOX CHANGES IMEI'S DIRECTLY OR IS SOME TYPE OF PATCHING REQUIRED???

It's hard to say which device is better than the next and each maker has its followers so this would be an endless discussion with no satisfactory results

As for the IMEI changing without the need to change the OTP chip and get an rpl file i believe it's all due to Dejan releasing some info on how to disable the IMEI control in DCT4 firmware. "All" they did was get a way to have their box patching the flash using the info freely provided.

I don't know what crackers/programmers they have in their team but if they needed to wait for dejan to release this info in order to allow IMEI changing to the masses then i guess they'll have to wait for dejan to release the info on how to unlock BB5 since he already claimed he could do it a few months ago

But then again this is my vision of how things are going and others may think differentely

cheers

I have learned that the JAF BOX patches corrupted imei (not ??????? ) or blocked imei by just flashing a patch file.

Any idea if the imei in phone (when pressing *#06#) is changed??

Also does anyone know what the patching does exactly??

As i said before it bypasses the UEM chip control and looks for the IMEI number inside the flash but if the *#6# works i can't tell

Right. I have JAF - it is an excellent tool!
It changes IMEI on most DCT4 nokias - but not (as yet) 6230. This is a new development on the box as is still being updated -- 6230 coming soon!!

It is a good flasher/unlocker - all nokia handsets supported except 6630/6680 (will flash BB5 but not unlock)

Yes - IMEI displayed *#06# is changed also.

Simple! Make sure you are using the latest version of the JAF firmware and software by updating your box (the files are available at www.odeon.cn/files)

Download the IMEI patch files from the same address and save them to c:\program files\odeon\jaf (create a directory named JAF IMEI PATCH))

use the button on the JAF software that says patch imei

enter number, job done!!

You have to flash the phone to the correct version of that the imei patch supports then u can use the imei patch function

Correct. And i am not going to go in to long-winded discussions on how to flash phones using JAF - quite frankly if u have this equipment then u should at least be at a level where using it is fairly self-explanatory. If u need help in using your box then i suggest u download and read the user manual on the support site!

thanks, squidgy, just there's a lot of websites claiming that the update is available, but it's not any of the J.A.F distributer websites.
