Hi,

I have a Nokia 6100, phone switches on OK but display backlight doesn't turn on. Keypad backlight is OK though. I tried replacing the LCD but still same problem. Phone was water damaged but by cleaning and treating it with hot air it switched on. Any idea which circuitry or IC might got faulty??

Thanks

right...

your backlight problem is probably caused by water damage under the LED Driver BGA... which is a major problem if you cant replace them! if its not that then its the large inductor or other discretes... please have a look at the diagram and have a squint at it for yourself!!!

Hope this helps

glad to help, this is a common fault with the 6100s any water seems to settle here and damage the backlights... Peace!!

Hi again,

I need some help as i have an oxidised NK6670 whixh is giving Insert Sim. I was told that normally the SIM reader IC goes faulty as it is made of alumininum film (as a gorund) and by shorting four pins you can make it work again.. DO you by any chance have an idea which pins to short and where is this IC situated on the M/B?

Tnx,

Chris

ChrisG81, this is the schem for your sim IC, i dont know which pins to short but i hope this image helps you... or you could just try to reflow the IC and see if it brings it back to life!!
