View Full Version : 6310i - phone will vibrate but won't sound (has NOT been dropped)

This is really weird - my phone, quite out of the blue, refuses to make any sound whatsoever. Ringtones, alarms, texts - NONE of these can make my phone ring, bleep or whatever. It's really weird, the phone was working absolutely 100% mint and this has happened without the phone being banged or dropped. The only thing that has possibly altered anything is Moosy Telefonbuch editor, Cellular Essentials, Logomanager Pro-Suite, or Oxygen Phone Manager II, all of which were connected to the phone the evening before the silence happened.

Does anyone have any idea what may have happened? Although I am capable of dismantling the phone and replacing the speaker, I am reluctant to do so because:

1) 6310Is don't like being taken apart - the facia clips on the plastic mouldings have a bad habit of breaking, even if you're careful.

2) I don't believe the issue is a hardware fault because the phone received no physical abuse or distress before the issue arose.

3) The issue arose after the phone had been connected (via InfraRed) to the above software programs, so, given that the phone has operated flawlessly for a couple of years and has received no physical abuse, it seems very logical and probable that one of the above programs may have caused the issue.

Many thanks for any insight you lads might be able to offer me :)

i'm not convinced of hardware problem also, although humidity can play a big role in phone damaging

but, as you mentioned, playing with all those data sw might have cause some firmware malfunction.

my advise would be to make a full sw reset to default values but for that you need a cable or a pro-box

cheers

Thanks - can you recommend an economical box capable of this? Do I need to spend £50 or more, or can this be done more cheaply? I ONLY have 6310is now so I don't need a box with capability for other phones, just 6310i.

Thanks again, I appreciate the help.

BTW, humidity is definitely not a factor in this instance.

Cheers.

there's a cheap flasher box called "cheap flasher" that works only with old DCT4 models (6310i included) but with some limitations and the need of specially treated files (patched)
better make a search about that to get more info

and no, there are no boxes specific for some models; they all work with all models but cost over 300€
