Although there are newer phones, I still think of the 8910i as being the coolest phone out there. Maybe it is the "forbidden fruit" aspect since the 8910 series is verboten here in the USA.

As far as adapting another Nokia handset, I know the following to be true:
1) The plastic housings for the 8210, 8310, 6510, 6590 are generally fairly shabby.
2) The real 8910 does not function correctly if its mainboard is modified for GSM 850/GSM 1900.

I have searched these threads, and searched the net, and haven't read of anybody asking my question, so here it is in plain English:

Is it possible to drop the board from any other USA-compatible Nokia handset into the 8910 OEM housing?

I know this depends on Torx alignment, display position, keyboard position, etc.

I ALSO know that this would probably be a bear of a job, but it is one that I'd like to try -- it appears that you guys would know since many of you undoubtedly have handsets open on a regular basis.

If any of you can help, I am sure you will also be answering this question for MANY frustrated Americans.

Thanks!
