6230i only accepts 3 wrong codes!! so be careful with following tries
and if version 3.40 or bellow requires a SIM card inside to accept the codes
use such settings:
IMEI: yours
MODEL: 6230/6230i
Serial: Original, One, ASIC6 (any of them)
MCC+MNC: 23410
try once and report back
cheers
Hey iv got it unlocked i had to put a different network sim
in the phone and used nokia DCT4 (expert) and used
Asic6 and it worked. How Kool :-P :)
Thanks loads

Cheers for the info just tweaked the settings for my Network (T-Mobile) used key +7, unlocked first attempt :-D
( Not forgetting to slip a sim in from another network first to bring up Input window)
I can't ask for more than that ...

Another T-Mobile handset unlocked with seventh code. Seems like the theory is changing.

No they don't they accept 5 like the others....

Why wouldn't a T-Mobile 6230i accept a +7 code? T-Mobile only use a network lock (at least in US and UK), and the +7 is valid for removing this on this model.

As you wish... but i challenge you to waste 3 tries on a 6230i and then use a valid code to see if it works

Do I need to copy&paste the link to the post where this same situation, a T-Mobile phone accepting seventh code, called your attention?
edit: here it is, 6101b Tmobile.

There have been several cases where a phone locked with lock 1 or 5 gave code error with the +7 code from the same set.
As long as the dct4 files are not decrypted, all we can do is theorize based upon experiences. And we (and I mean all of us) have had several different experiences, from different code error messages to different working codes, not to talk about working serials.

T Mobile have never used GID1 so I have ALWAYS used code +1
Correct. I always use +1 also, as it seems unneccesary to use any other. But this model does not object to using +7 to remove +1 only, unlike some others maybe - as Edge was implying.
It would be useful if member when posting explain their theories instead of posting ficticous remarks which are hard to substanciate without relevant credable information
Is this aimed at me? There was nothing fictious about it, I thought I was helping...I have unlocked many 6230i's. As you state, they are very simple. I thought I had posted enough useful comments over the last couple of years to have some sort of reputation by now. I only chip in on the new difficult phones, or unusual ones, in order to further both my knowledge, and the community's. But as you wish..

Subway, that link is for the 6101 - the "Phone restriction on" mystery! The 6230i behaves itself, giving "Cannot Undo" after 5 tries etc (though admitedly it does require a SIM to unlock, but then so do loads of new models)
As you wish... but i challenge you to waste 3 tries on a 6230i and then use a valid code to see if it works
Raise your eyebrows all you like. Simply plug a "Cannot Undo" 6230i to into a Prodigy box or similar (as I have done) and look at the lock counter, it will state 5, not 3. Every now and again there is always a "it only takes 3 codes!" scare, but none have yet been substantiated.
I get the impression my interjections are starting to annoy you 3, my apologies if this is the case but they have all been done with the best intentions, and I have unlocked an awful lot of Nokia's.
If I see a mod posting what I know to be incorrect information I thought it best to correct it. Cheers

...and does the counter stop at 5? when u plugged the phone it was just after the "cannot undo restriction" showed for the first time?
I don't just go around saying things to scare members since i make nothing out of it. I say that since i made tests with a 6230i and a JAF box and every time phone was unlocked with the box (reset all values) it started showing the "cannot..." error after third wrong attempt. Now if JAF box resets counter to 2 and not to 0 (but i doubt it happens this way) then my assumptions might be wrong
@edgecrusher
you were right m8. guess i'm 5€ behind now

Yes it does, which you would know if you had ever tried it on ANY dct4 Nokia.

Alright, thinking about if further. It could be theoritcally possible that the phone gives "Cannot Undo" at 3, yet the counter does not stop until 5 (yes, the counter does not increment above 5).
Tell you what, I'll buy one (and return it after :D ) and test it, just so we know....

I have a Griffin Gold but don't think that its GUI/shell shows the counter; not even in the gammu add-on
well, if you can buy a 6230i and return it afterwards then i guess it's the best way to try and clear this issue. let us know

I can also confirm having carried out tests and the 6230i will 100% only take 3 attempts before returning the message "cannot undo restriction".
Also, as mestrini points out, any firmware version after 3.40 needs a sim card in the phone.
Hope this helps clear up matters

I've ordered a Orange UK 6230i (just to ensure it is locked), will arrive next week. I'll run the same test and let you know.

OK, sincere apologies to Mestrini, and eating humble pie and all that. The 6230i was net locked and sim locked to Orange, fresh from the box (had lock counter set to 0 - checked with Prodigy box), first 3 purposely incorrect codes gave "Code Error", the 4th incorrect gave "Cannot Undo Restriction".
As Mestrini says, the 6230i only allows 3 code entries, not 5.

I'm glad you had the chance to verify it with a fresh out-of-box phone since the experiments i had made we're after clearing values with a Box.
I think it's clear for all now that 6230i (and perhaps 6230) only take three wrong tries.
Thanks for taking the time to make such test. I think we've all won here :D
