Need to find out network operator

Hi All

Can anybody tell me if it is possible to find out who the orignal network operator is on a mobile phone if I don't know it. I wish to get a phone unlocked but do not know the original network operator, can it be done through the imei or any details on the box (no it does not say it on the box LOL)

Unless the phone has some logo, or there is a sim inside from the original operator (and I gues that there is not...) no way.

PM me the IMEI and I'll see if I can trace it. If it is a popular model then I should be able to do so.
