I can't find any info on this subject so I'm hoping to get some insight.

Take a 6630. For the purpose of this example, say it's locked to Vodafone UK. Would it be possible to flash it with T-Mobile UK firmware and switch the subsidy lock to T-Mobile? It's my understanding that flashing does not release the subsidy lock, but this wouldn't really be unlocking, just changing the lock.

Even if this is possible, it does no good whatsoever for me since I'm trying t use my 6630 with T-Mobile US, but it might be a temporary fix for people in the UK.

Comments?

This was just a hypothetical situation, as I have a 6630 locked to T-Mobile UK. I'm aware of how much the code costs to purchase, but T-Mobile UK refuses to help me since I don't have an account with them

Guys, perhaps a dumb question to ask,
Is there any standalone software to flash / upgrade / debrand the 6630 using DKU2 and a p.c. (i.e. no box)? :???:

It's not a dumb question, even if it has been asked before ;)

Nope, without a box you can not do anything unfortunately.

Hey guys,
Would it be correct to assume that any firmwire upgrade on the 6630 would release a hard lock?

Nope... this is correct for DCT4 phones, but not for BB5 phones since the lock is stored in an IC, I think it's called RPA3G.
