basically thats my question....
if so

i have a nokia 3310 v5.13
can anyone point me to the best forum thread/site where i can do this or alternatively give me some sort of instructions

hmm....you can't using data cable to upgrade your 3310 to 3315, since your phone software version is below 5.45.

you need a flash cable in order to upgrade your phone to 3315, you need to flash the 3310 v5.45 or above in order to upgrade your phone, try to search in this forum with keyword "3310 3315"

you will find many thread discussing this.

No, you need a flash cable which connect to your lpt port, and it is not possible to convert data cable to flash cable, no need to ask. Try to buy a flash cable from website.

Only flash cable can upgrade your phone software, data cable can only unlock, change imei, update faid, and for upload logo, ringtone etc.

I think you need to search for "flashing" or "flash cable" in this forum.

no, but if you have dejan box(dongle) then yes with winddp.

but flash cable cannot transfer logo or ringtone to your phone, as long as connect it with logomanager.
