can anyone help me with this?? also is there anything else i need to know when unlokcing this phone? the code given, is it meant to be keyed in when the old sim card is in or the new one??

cheers

cool got through with this part, just did a bit of reading and found what this GEN etc is.

alight problem now, done all that and tried 3 codes and they have come incorrect.

am i right to be putting these codes in without the sim card?? also i have tried codes no 1, 2, and 7?? are there ones i should try first which are better chances??

Hello,

Just thought I'd add my experience.
I have a 6230 on Orange in the UK.

I used the downloadable calculator rather than the online one
I used: 6230 (RH-12), Asic6, Original.
I had to do it without a SIM card in the phone (some peole siad they had to have the new not-yet-working SIM in)..
I didn't get a prompt, I just entered code 1 when it said "No sim card"
I got the message saying the restriction was removed and indeed another sim card worked when I put it in.

Thank you very much nokiafree.org!
I did find it very difficult to get through all the old advice however because it has changed over the years. The stuff about GEN (box serial) numbers and asic type was very confusing - espeically since the online calculator only had a field for one of these. The advice to try code 1 rather than code 7 as normal was also burried in posts.
But I got there so thank you again

James

Orange UK 6230 are GID1 Locked thus you need to use code +5 to properly remove the restrictions Type/UEM ASIC6 GENSerialASIC6 with SIM inserted
