Hello all,

Just wanted to say thanks for the posts on the 6230i that I was trolling earlier on -I managed to unlock my T-Mobile 6230i on the very first try!

The small question I have is with regards to getting a "3" SIM to work with the phone...When I place the SIM in and turn the phone on, I get the message "Incompatible Handset" and then the 'Restriction code' message appears, I select 'Undo', enter the 10-digit mastercode and I get the message "Code Error".

I've re-entered the +7# code as well and got the message "Phone was not restricted" and it works with an Orange SIM card, so I'm a bit baffled...

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks in advance,

s75

Hutchinson 3G are a 3G company they own their own UMTS 2100 bandwidth space with their own network of transmitters

All Hutchinson phones are backwardly compatable to GSM 900 bandwidth so that they can roam on 02, thru an internal roaming agreement which H3G will get charged for when you use it!

H3G are around to make money so they want so dissuade customers who lose them money like yourself who is trying to use a non authorised GSM phone on their network which is unable to function on 2100umts/3G

You have three options for your dilema

a)Some how copy a H3G sim without the internal security
b)Buy a UMTS phone
c) transfer service to a 2.5G provider

Hello there,

Thanks for the explanation -although I thought that 3 charged their users (i.e. me!) for hopping onto the GSM network anyway?

To be honest, the only reason I want to use a different phone from the one that I was supplied with on contract (a K608i) is that the 3G handset is the worst Sony Ericsson phone I've ever used! I think I'll just ebay the 6230i and search out a better 3G handset than the one I'm currently suffering with!

Any suggestions?

Cheers,
