Received code but ??

I have received my unlock code from Orange uk to unlock a N80 (took 12 days) but no instructions where to enter it.

Should i use a orange sim card, no sim or sim from another network b4 entering it?

insert another sim card, the phone will ask for code!

Tried it and it just states on screen sim card rejected

To unlock a bb5 phone ie n80

1)With your accepted(Orange UK) SIM inserted press the # key once
2)press the * key 3 times to display p
3)press the * key 4 times to display w
4)press the * key twice to display +
5)enter the 15 digit code supplied by your service provider ie Orange UK
6)press the * key twice to display +
7)press 1(this is the number for network lock)(If its SP locked then its maybe 2)
Finally... Press the # key

your phone should say Phone Restriction Off, the phone will then reboot, after which you can insert a foreign SIM card

You have 3 attempts to unlock your phone with the code, after which the phone will be permantly locked to the original network that it was supplied locked to

PS Usually the service provider should walk you thru the unlock process as if they bodge it, they can be held responsible to supply another working handset, the route which I followed when Orange supplied me an incorrect working code!

I contacted Orange who emailed the step by step and all went well the n80 is now unlocked :) i had to do it without a sim in the phone though but it worked :grin:
