Dear All,

Just bought a Nokia 6102i that was locked to cingualr in the usa.
The lady at the cingular shop unlocked it for me using a code from your page(I don't know the code she used), but now I got back here to europe, I switched the phone on and it worked for a few days with my local provider (Telecom Italia), then it stopped working.
If I searched for networks, it picked up the other providers but not mine.
I then tried another SIM from another provider (Vodafone Italy), and that worked for about 6 hours and then stopped too.
I've tried a few unlock codes on it, specifically those for the 6100 with Cingular as the network, both code 1 and code 7 , but it just says that the unlock code is wrong.
Can anyone explain to me what is the problem ?

The phone is tri band 850/1900 and 1800

1800 is the bandwidth used by newer PCS networks in Europe, there is coverage on GSM networks however its only in larger metropolitan areas

My questions is about how to get the phone to verify it's unlocked. Once it comes up and says "Restrictions Off" and you put the SIM back in, is there a way to get the phone to verify it's unlocked past that?

Two ways to do that:
1- Use SIM cards from a diferent providers
2- Type the same successful unlock code and see if the phone reports something like "Phone wasn't restricted"
