This phone is an Orange-designated Nokia 3210e. When an O2 SIM is put in it and the Sim PIN entered it says "SIM card not accepted".

I assumed that the phone was locked to the Orange network.

I have followed the procedures for unlocking the Orange designation as given in this website for a DC3 phone, and entered the resultant code. At each stage things went as described and produced the code :#pw+5009316306+1#

This was accepted by the phone and I got the message "The SIM was not Restricted"

Where do I go from here if I need to use an O2 or Vodaphone SIM in the phone?

Sound like you should try code 2 (GID1).

Orange (UK) uses 0000 as the GID1 code for a dual band phones or 00FF for single band phones, (cant remember what the 3210 is. lol)

If it still does not work try a mbus cable.

Many thanks - that's done the trick!
