Using Nokia 5110 in 850 Mhz network.
Hello, I would like to use the good-old 5110 in a new 850 Mhz network. Is any way to do it internally or externally.

Thanks very much in advance, Diegoito

this is very difficult my friend.

there are a number of hardware modifications that you must perform, not to mention software changes also... if you think your up to it then let us know and we will try and help you out!!

I certanly will try.

I can imagine that a tiny crystal has to be changed in the board for the radio part. Why the change in software?

Thanks, Diegoito

there is a lot more than just a small crystal...

you must change RX Filters, I Think you might have to change the RFIC, and maybe some other things, i can think right now...

the software is required so that the VCO can generate the 850MHz when its needed...

there is much work required and am not sure its worth it to be honest!!

Actually I am very interested, I do not know if it is possible, but I would like to try, if you help me. I am happy to have my discoveries posted.

For what I understand the main thing to change is the radio, RX and TX. Are the RX filter and the RFIC stardard and can they be changed easily?, is the VCO software well understood and available to be changed? Is it machine code or a higher level languaje (and which one)?

Is the radio part decoupled from the rest? Is there any other way?

Thanks, Diego
