Phone was locked to Orange, I didn't have SIM card in and it said 'Insert SIM' so I entered '*#06#' and got IMEI , entered that into Calculator, entered the '7' one (using asic 6 - didn't need sim as it just took it????) and it said 'Phone Restrictions off'

Only problem now is it wont receive or send calls???It gets a phone signal etc, any ideas?

Haven't tried on Orange yet but will tonight.

Blacklisted!!
Different networks blacklist handsets in different ways:

Orange & O2:
If you place an active orange or
O2 sim into a blacklisted handset you
phone will not show any signal strength
at all! If the handset is a Nokia then a
"SIM card registration failed" message
will also be displayed.

Vodafone & T-Mobile
If you place an active Vodafone or T-Mobile sim into a blacklisted handset, the phone will appear to function perfectly UNTIL you try to make an outgoing call. When you try to call out from the handset you will hear a sequence of beeps and then the call will be dropped!!

Cheers for that , I bought it on Ebay as slighty not working and thought I could repair it, couldnt so took it a Nokia Repair Centre and they said it could be fixed under warranty! Got it back and it worked fine just no signal. I called Orange and asked if it was blacklisted after a gut feeling. They said it was blacklisted. So hopefully the guy is going to give me the money back.

https://www.immobilise.com/ may have stopped half of the hassle if I had known about it and asked for the IMEI number, you learn something everyday......

But they didn't check the IMEI against any database.....Got it back and it worked fine just no signal. I called Orange and asked if it was blacklisted after a gut feeling. They said it was blacklisted. So hopefully the guy is going to give me the money back.
