yes i'm serious dejan has decided today is the day to release a free bb5 unlocker and it does work i can vouch for that

now i'm not claiming to be the first to test this software but i have tested it and it does work just go to gsm.hosting and check the thread there for confirmation

i have included the software here for those who wish to download it
all i can say is thanks dejan and goodbye to all those muppets charging 20 to 30 pounds for a bloody code they got from a server.

so far i have unlocked 2 nokia 6680's and a n70 using this software but as i don't have a dk5 cable i just used jaf com port emulator and my jaf box with the service cables for the 6680 and n70 all worked perfectley.

it also works with cat 5 service cables used by boxes like jaf.

i don't have a dku5 so i plugged in my jaf ( don't launch the jaf programme it's just used as a bridge between the usb and comm ports ) launce the jaf comm emulator i use comm 2 then start dejans app on the same comm port.

i have used this method on 12 n70's

yes this workin,this info i copy from another forum this way is work
1. Connect DKU-5 or normal COM cable to computer
2. Set proper COM cable (must be, between 1 and 9)
3. Download unlocker, run `install.bat`
4. Open file c:/bb5_unlocker/logs/bb5_unlocker.cfg and write here proper COM port (1-9)
5. Run c:/bb5 unlocker/BB5logunlocker.exe
6. Click READ PHONE
7. Click MAKE LOG, log will be created
8. Enter codes to phone (in /psw/ dir), or
9. Click SP UNLOCK to enter codes via FBUS

IMPORTANT
Logger works for BB5 with rap3g v2.11 to v2.20.
Calculator works for any BB5 phone,

Connect cable to PC and be shure com port is adjusted properly
Start BB5logunlocker.exe
Connect phone and switch on without Sim card.
press button READ PHONE and wait until get the message DONE.
If is everything correct you will see info from phone on screen.
Pres button make log and wait until get mesage done.
Log file is in folder LOGS.
Start BB5_calc.exe to make for you PSW file in folder PSW
Press button SP UNLOCK and unlock your phone.

That is all folks



If you got unlock codes from your provider and you used all yours 3 attempts
to enter code via keypad then do the following:
into dir "c:\bb5_unlocker\psw" create a file "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa_BB5.psw" where is "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" enter your phones imei
then in that created file enter in the files start "#pw+bbbbbbbbbbbbbbb+c#" where is "bbbbbbbbbbbbbbb"
enter your unlock code and where is "c" enter your logs level number (1-7).
save the file and use "SP UNLOCK" function

You need a Nokia DKU5 (or CA42, is the same) cable with its Nokia drivers, or a compatible with its OWN DRIVER... Nokia CA42 Cable driver only works with the original cable.

I try at the first time with an old compatible cable and its driver, but this don't work (hang on reading). Later I find another compatible cable, model KQ-U8A. I had search for valid driver for this one; I get it, install it, conect mobile and run procedure... My 6630 is now unlocked!

Note: This program only works with older BB5 models (6630, 6680, N70 and anymore). For newest models this don't work (yet).

Only works with DKU-5 or CA-42 (or a valid generic, not Prolific), because it needs a FBus cable (like older RS232). DKU-2, CA-53, CA-70, etc... haven't any FBus interface, that's only an Usb bridge with a PopPort connector; so they don't work for this.

Look at Device Manager, what's the completly name of the new Com port? If nothing, take a look at "Properties" of this device (DKU Serial Port) and see "Manufacturer Name" ... If you see Prolific or ArkMicro, your cable cannot work with this app.

It is the original DKU-5 cable.
The full name is "Port 1 on Nokia Adapter" and the manufacturer is Nokia Corporation...

Something must be very wrong around here: I've tried 4 N70s, 1 PC and 1 Laptop running WinXP, 1 PC running Win98, 2 Original DKU-5 cables, 1 original CA-42 cable... No progress so far... Just "WAIT..."

Firex: Do u use the "WR Backup" button? It must restore your phones from a backup created at first step, "Read Phone". If not, I'm sorry. Good luck!

On "Device Manager", at "Ports (Com & LPT)", you'll see the Com port used by USB cable. It's something like this:

Appears that must to be a DKU-2 or compatible, not a DKU-5... or drivers isn't sucesfully installed. The Com port (or an unknown device) must be loaded when u plug the cable to PC, without a phone connected. If not, your cable isn't a DKU-5 or compatible, or maybe damaged.

A little tip for those who are finding it hard to configure the com port.

Many of you have probably plugged more than one phone into your PC's, therefore the com ports could be anything. For example if you have plugged 10 phones into the com port, it could be com15 when you insert another phone.

To check this go:
My Computer/Control Panel/Phone & Modem Options/Modems

Look to see if many com ports have been used and remove all except your dial up modem and anything else important to your PC. You should now have a com port available between 1-9 now.

....also before unlocking reset your phone using *#7370#

This will help if you are having difficulty unlocking, as N70's can be a real trouble sometimes.

I have tested this software with 2 x 6630's - 3 x 6680's - 2 x n70's and all worked well.

Please, please search and read the forum before posting and wasting space. The N90 is a BB5 phone, so you cannot unlock it with a DCT4 calculator. You need Dejan's unlocker.

There is a whole section on DCT4 phones in this forum and you can find the calculator there, as well as through the link at the top of the main page.

Try and unlock your N70 and you never more be able to switch on it.
Why -because it's too easy ! I tried unlock N70 and changed software
but after switch on locker automatically came back.

General advice for newbies - Read the forum rules, read the stickies, then use the forum's search function.

At present the E62 cannot be unlocked by any other means except obtaining the code from your network provider - in your case cingular.

I already connect my phone with dku-5 cable and start the dejan software. but after click at read phone button i will receive message box Bad connection (check fbus cable, phone,etc) I already do what others guys says to connect the cable and on/off etc several times but still same. it took 3 years for the first solution to be developed and released. you will have to wait for as long as it takes thats just that simple.

Yes - get the code from your network operator. This unlocker does not work for 6280.

According to the instructions Dejan's solution for hardlocked phones works only if you have the necessary working unlock code from your operator - not the unlock codes which someone has experimented with, thus hardlocking the phone.

I'm afraid you have to get the correct unlock code from your network operator.

i got a locked n70 and i tried to unlock it several times using dejans software
i bought a dku5 cable i installed the program and set the com port
i did everythin ok cause everytime im pressing read phone everything seems to work fine but the program freezes while WAIT message is not disappearing meaninig the process is incomplete
the program reads only my phones IME and its software version
has anyone faced a similar problem with me?
any idea about what to do?
am i missing something?

I haven't tried your suggestion, so I cannot argue. If it works - great, maybe it even deserves a separate thread.

My point was that Dejan's original instructions (which I am fortunate enough to be able to read and fully understand in the original Serbian version) do NOT contain the solution suggested by you.

Once again - if it does work, congratulations for finding a way to improve on the master's work. If I manage to test it, I will post results here and would be more than happy to inform Dejan through the gsmhosting forum that you have discovered/developed a feature in his unlocker program that he wasn't aware of.

Right, I have formatted the phone and it still will not read. The program crashes when I click read and if I ry to read the phone when it is at the Nokia splash screen it gives and error say bad connection. It is all connected up fine to me.

the only way to reset the security code for any bb5 phone is by using a flash box such as the jaf or the ufxs there are no generic code calculators.

Question for all the people that have used the software: Have any of you used a non-OEM cable and been successful? I've found a few non-OEM cables for sale with 13 pins, but I want to be sure they will work. I've had no luck finding an OEM one that doesn't cost a ton, mainly because I'm in the US and overseas shipping costs big bucks.

Yes I have the same problem and I'm working with a factory settings Nokia E-65 phone with a DKU-5 cable (in COM7 and correctly configured in the logs folder of Dejan's software). I still get the "Unable to open Com port".

I see a problem here. You're saying to unlock the phone as normal, which involves making the log, then running through the unlocker to make a code, correct? The problem he seems to be having is that he is unable to make a log at all, which would prevent him from following your steps.

If his error when attempting to make a log is due to the phone being hardlocked, your instructions won't work. If it is a different problem causing the error, and a hardlocked phone can still have a log generated, your instructions should work flawlessly on a hardlocked phone.

If you have COM1 in you Dejan config file, you have to set your Port to 1 in the Device Manager for the connector.

so I got a DKU-5 cable. But when I connect it to my USB port the harware does not get recognized by Windows. Does it mean the cable is bad/wrong?

The phone has to be turned on in order to get the COM port start working, so I can't do the step where you have to click on "Read Phone" while phone starts.

so far i have unlocked 2 nokia 6680's and a n70 using this software but as i don't have a dk5 cable i just used jaf com port emulator and my jaf box with the service cables for the 6680 and n70 all worked perfectley.

hi to all, i want to start out by thanking dejan for the software.

i have been struggeling for about two months trying to unlock a Nokia 6680 on the 3 network. i finally got my hands on an original nokia dku-5 cable, this was quite a tremendous task as they have been discontinued.

the software works every now and then, but with different results. firstly it froze when i said read phone, then it read the phone id and imei number. i tried it again and it went up all the way to SIMLock service: SIMLOCK SERVER VERSION 56 - Increased and then froze again.

is it at all possible if you someone can tell me what this means as this looks different from the screenshots and if there is a way to fix it.

well I did read the thread about it and people keep asking doesn't work with 6280 and some other says just copy the file in the mmc and it should work.

also that bb5 unlocker, they say it should support all bb5 models, expecially 6280 and 6288, as I have read around. some say it works some say it does not....and some questions been left unanswered...so not only me but there are many others that are confused because all these threads are mixed up and not good enough information in there...

this is why I thought I ask, there is no harm in asking, but thanks at least someone answered my questions eventhough got angry at me but thanks.

I have been trying so hard to find proper information. Have a look at this link as well, it says at the very buttom that it supports 6280, but just found out in the texts it says it will not...how dodgt is that, and that guy who wrote it is a gsm expert someone like dejan.....

according to that site which seems to be a good website, it should work but somewhere in the middle of all those texts it says it does not, at least that person should read his own post/page before uploading it on the internet and cause all these confusion in the forums.

you see in forums many people say different things, and all over the internet if you search it says 6280 can be unlocked (security or network lock) without using a cable.....so that tells me go to the forums and check...but in these forums like %50 say one thing and the rest another...no one yet knows if this is a myth or the truth...

I am a computer freak and know how to search but am stock with this myth and dont know if i should through the phone away or still stick around and see if it can be recovered...

I've read the threads and think i tried everything before posting it.
So i hope i didn't miss anything, and if i did, i'm sorry.

configuration
I'm using nokia dku-5 cable and unsigned driver under windows XP.
Driver being "Usbvsp.sys" (ver 1.24.000 date 17/05/02 copyright of Atmel)
Port is COM5 and set to be port 5 in the cfg file.
phone is 6680 v5.04.07 15-02-06 RM-36.

BB5 unlocked opens and when i try to read the phone normally - it hangs on "WAIT".
If i close/open and immediately read phone, i've managed to get only to the point when the 1st and 2nd lines are being read and then it gets stuck.

1st line is :"V 04wk47_m_v14 09-02-06 RM-36 (c) Nokia."
2nd line is the IMEI

I've tried rebooting to default (*#3730#), it didn't help.

In rare case in which i use two hands (ie. one is turning on the phone and the other is clicking on the read button).
I've managed to get to the 3rd line which read :
"SP Ver: SIMLOCK SERVER VERSION 56 - Increased"

and then it gets stuck again.

Any tip to get me over to the next step ?

Hi I have Nokia 7390,

I am trying BB5logunlocker.exe. My phone is connected to pc using dke-2 usb cable. In device manager in Ports node it shows nokia 7390 on com3. I have provided com3 in log/bb5_unlocker.cfg file. When i run BB5logunlocker.exe it open the program with com3 displayed. On clicking read phone it says wait and then nothing happens for hours. It doesn't read phone info.

I have NSS installed on my PC. It reads phone and generates pm file for all section and keys including 308. Could you help me run program properly.could you let me a sample log file then I would manually write a log file in logs directory using NSS pm file. may be this can help.

I have read the directions from the thread but I'm confused with the first few steps. I've downloaded the s/w.

Here are the instructions from the blog/thread that I have problems with comprehending:

Instructions
1. Connect cable to computer and phone
2. Set proper COM cable (must be, between 1 and 9) WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
3. Download unlocker, run `install.bat` DID THIS BUT IT SAID THAT IT WAS UNABLE TO OPEN COM PORT, I'M ASSUMING IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH STEP 2.
4. Open file c:/bb5_unlocker/logs/bb5_unlocker.cfg with a text editor set proper COM port (1-9) AGAIN, "WHAT DOES SETTING PROPER COM PROT MEAN"?
5. Run c:/bb5 unlocker/BB5logunlocker.exe
6. Turn phone on. While it is turning on, click READ PHONE. You should see "DONE"
7. Click MAKE LOG, a log will be created. This log is used to generate the codes. Wait until you see "DONE".
8. Log file is in folder LOGS. Start BB5_calc.exe to make the PSW file.
9. Press button SP UNLOCK and unlock your phone.

I've read every single forum and I still can't find a solution!

My 6680 from 3, refuses to work with the software. I've followed all the instructions, but when I click 'READ PHONE', the software just crashes/ freezes.

I've used 2 pcs, and the same thing happens. I've tried switching on my phone and clicking 'READ PHONE' but an error message tells me to restart program or switch off/on phone.

I'm using the correct PORTS as well. I have firmware v3.04.37. Does anyone have an idea what the problem may be??

This too has happened to me last night....exept i didnt format it. its doing my head in. i would get what is mentioned about in those steps and thats using the prolific driver and the ms3303 driver...or it would say the first 2 lines and i just happened to switch the phone off when the serial number appeared and that was it. now each repeatition shows the first 2 lines and wait ta ta ta ta

im using dku-5 13pin cable. had to run as admin in vista to get it this far. wouldnt do anything when admin rights were not given to the program..

plz where are we going wrong? the simcard and memory card is out too.

for vista,,,,the port ur using,is over 4,,,,,go device manager,click props on your port,(for cable)then advanced,there you can change com number,,,,change it to 2,,,if 2 not available,,,then find what using 2,and change that to 66 or something,then go back and 2 b available,,,for all this you need 2b logged in to adminastrator,and user authentication,has to be off...find that control panel,then user accounts,,,then select ur account,and untick it....reboot 2 take effect......for messing with ports on vista...nothing work properly unless the thing is unticked:)
but if you check my older posts,on this thread,,,,
you will not need mess bout,,,,,just read what i said bout tx,rx,gnd to any serial cable.....works every time,for this prog:)

i run the bb5 tool plus activation form and there are 3 empty boxes..no code mentioned The same for the keygen. it needs a username to make a generated code for keygen

its ok i got it going. i typed "trial" and generated a code from that and then the activation code and it works...tho even putting the phone in local mode which it does, starting the bbs tool from there still only shows the first 2 lines and luckily i will get unlocking server version 58 or summit. (using a dku-5 13pin cable)

i purchased a ca-42 cable (blue with 6pins) and it doesnt pick up in vista at all in device manager.is this the wrong cable?

i have nokia 6680 and have got dku-5 and downloaded dejan's bb5 unlocker from this site and joined it , installed cable drivers usb to serial and have changed "c:\bb5_unlocker\logs\bb5_unlocker.cfg" with any text editor change your COM port setings! from com1 to com9 which is free ! but all i get when i start dejan's bb5 unlocker is
