Hiya all,

Ok had this problem ever since i got it off my cousin, at first nothing displayed on screen so bought new screen lcd panle and frame etc

All fitted and ok, except if you press lightly at top of fone the screen goes off, and to get it back on you need to gove it a bit of a twiddle or a bang, ive cleaned the elastomer and was wondering whether it would be the metal contacts on the pcb - can i coat these with solder to create better contact??

Help

Hi Slikmik,

try cleaning contacts with isopropyl alcohol, check for damage to the tracks on the board & board itself with magnifyer. coating contacts with solder won't improve the connection in fact the opposite would be true however if you do find a damaged track a small blob of solder carefully applied over that would help. I hope you find the cause of your problem.

good wishes

Hi,

Seems to be a serious 8210 problem, cleaning just helped temporarily.

My experiment:

If U look at the rubber that makes contact to the mainboard, U see a pin there, some mm to the right bottom.

That pin is used to hold that plastic keypad sheet on it's place.

I guess this pin is too high.
So I removed it.

I just did that a week ago, but surprisingly my phone didn't have shown the problem since.

This might work out for U too.

Interesting idea, wierd how it worked for you because the pin just fits into the hole so shouldnt give any undue pressure on the pcb

Anyway ive tried it and nothing :(

This morning i dosed pretty much me whole fone in white spirit, after that the screens just f***cked its worse than before now!! :( Nothing showing at all, before i could just tap it and put pressure in places and it was ok but now nothing at all.

Its a bummer because ive recently changed the leds - it was working ok after the change though so not them to blame! :p

Any more ideas anyone?

What are the small resistors on the screen for - what do they do?

I have two screens, ive alternated parts but still nothing

Hope it weren't the type of WHITE SPIRIT you use to THINNER paint!!

& I had this problem aswell!
& 2 make it even more of a coincedence!
I have jus got ma 8210 LED's done! White on SCREEN, Blue on KEYPAD!

N e wayz! As for ur problem! If the fone was workin perfectly then I bet its the LCD! I've had 2 go through 3 of them for my 8210 to find 1 that works! :(

But now the problem is sorted tho!
If u can then just take the SCREEN back 2 the shop u bought it & report it faulty! U might get a refund or a new screen if u can! :)

Ok yep it were white spirit - why??

This is second screen so looks like im off buying another now then :(

Thing is ive kinda scratched away at the screen contacts on pcb to hopefully help contacting the elastomer but knowing me ive probably just screwed it even more

well what can i say besides ARSE!

Wouldn't this just be the common elastomer replacement problem???
Too bad you guys aren't in Australia... I fix this problem for $20AUD... :D

Erm no....

Doesn't seem to be, cos its a common fault and even though i meself have tried a couple of various elastomers it still aint working :(

I'll just get a new screen and hope for the best

as in, the LCD itself doesn't display anything? I've had a few of those; it seems that a replacement LCD works fine :)
