i tried flashing a flash file which i edited the tones...
i deleted some of the default tones and inserted new ones...
when i tried to change my tone, i cant find the ones i inserted and i found out that the new ones didnt have short names...
im wondering if that's the problem... if so, how can i edit the short name of tones?
thnx for enlightening this newb!

hello
hope this will help u. understand why.
ringtones on PPM or the default ringtone has 3 format.
1. apac
2. finland
3. 62xx/71xx
that's how i called 'em thou, it could be another name or descriptions.
anyways,
apac has this format
4 bytes index number
4 bytes tone length
4 bytes tone_shortnameid
6 btyes of 00s
tone header
tone
ending bytes
finland
4 bytes index number
4 bytes tone length
4 bytes tone_shortnameid
4 btyes of 00s
1 bytes tone longname size + 1
X bytes depends how long is the longname
2 bytes00s
tone header
tone itself
ending bytes
on 62xx/71xx it's almost the same with the finland thou the difference are here;
4 bytes index number
4 bytes tone length
4 bytes tone_shortnameid
4 btyes of 00s
1 bytes tone type (2 on ringtones)
1 bytes tone longname size + 1
X bytes depends how long is the longname
(longname are padded with 00410042004300430045 )
3 bytes00s
tone header
tone itself
ending bytes
(total size) % 4 = 0 (answer should be the same value in the tone length)
on ringtone it should end with 0x07 0x0b [0xFF 0xFF 0xFF]
[] means optional depends on the total size;

Kontact,
I've been modifying my 6210 (am new to this fone) and still can't modify the message alert tones using Ice Dragon's Flastone 2.10. Any ideas?

hmmm... i will try to run flashtone 2.1 and see why.. will let u know, maybe 2morow..
actually, i myself and doing some routine for kxdemo... i just finish the ringtone sections.
it could use rtttl/rtx/ton/re as souce so that u can insert/change a ringtone on dct3 including 62xx n 71xx.
btw, i just tried what u ask. and by viewing the flash 6210v556a. i tried to modify the special alert and it's seem ok.

i think u can only use *.txt, *.rtx & RTTTL on flashtone. u cannot use *.ton/*.re.
