I have a M3588 that has a BTCellnet (UK) pay as you go SIM. Not only is the handset locked to BTCellnet, but the SIM is locked to the handset. i.e I cannot put the SIM into an unlocked Nokia without it saying "SIM card registration failed".
How do I "unlock" the SIM - or can I? - so I can use it in one of my Nokia?

Any help would be appreciated
Thxs

I could help you to unlock the phone, but not the SIM... seems weird... Sure it still works in your mot?

try to change IMEI in your Nokia to IMEI from your Motorola

Thanks for the idea Alexander - but changing IMEI of Nokia to that of Motorola still gives a SIM card registration failure. Any more ideas? Anyone?

Hmm...

That sounds suss, anyway, there might be a simple explanation to this, ring up 'BTCellnet (UK)' and tell them what is going on, they 'should' be willing to help you if you are willing to stick to BTCellnet ;)

I would of sugested that IMEI change myself, but ahh well.
Hmm... if BTCellnet offer to fix your problem for a fee, stamp your foot and say 'NO!'

Cheers,
-Dave

the sim came with calls to one free number like the old phillips c12 savvy, i have tried allsorts of ways to get round this but i never managed to get the sims working in any other phone.

BTCellnet will not help you as the free number package was killing them financially, all you get if you ring them up is the offer to put you on a modern pay as you go deal with a new simcard. In short they want you off that free number package ASAP!!!

throw away the sim but unlock the mot (e c), or sell both or each on ebay.
