Hi, I´m new here, so I don´t know much about this. I´ve understand that my Nokia 5800 XM is on a BB5 platform, and I´ve read that these kind of phones can´t be unlocked with a code without any software, is that right?
Altough I´ve found many sites saying that only with the IMEI of the Nokia 5800 phone they send me (after they charge me) the unlock code. So this can be unlocked with a code based on only the IMEI?
I´m sorry if I don´t know too much, but if you can please guide me on how to unlock it without extra charges I´d be very grateful.
My phone is a Nokia 5800 XM as mentioned, bought in Spain on Orange network, with IMEI: 354216030219194.

Thanks, excuse my poor english.

You can also ask your network provider for the codes...

To unlock your 5800 you need to visit a person who deals with such things. By this I mean actually go to a store/person who is a specialist. They are all over the place and don't charge you very much.

There are many sites online which claim to be able to provide unlocking codes. They charge you a fee, and ask you for your imei number. Avoid avoid avoid. Occasionally these codes work, but more often than not, you are ripped off. Infact, all these sites carry disclaimers stating that they do not guarantee the effectiveness of any codes.
Also, giving out your imei number online is a very stoopid thing to do.

Back in the day, it was simple to unlock a mobile phone remotely. There was a massive list of default codes that worked on all Nokia handsets. This simply isn't the case anymore. The only way to properly unlock and de-brand a cell phone these days is to hard wire it to a pc and tinker with it's firmware using specialist software.

Also, typing *#06* simply displays your cell's imei number on the screen. Something which is printed on the underside of the handset anyway. Under the battery. The imei number is the unique identification number for your phone. It's unique to your phone, and should be kept secret.

Don't give out your imei on the internet, and don't pay anyone online who claims to be able to unlock.

Take yourself to a store/mobile tech and pay with cold cash.
This is the only guaranteed method.
