New MCU software version 04.26 has been released for NHM-2

Changes/improvements made from version 04.09 to version 04.26:

- Java

- Applied SUN security patch 1, from 9 July 2002.

- Improvement in Java SMS API where garbage characters were appended to the messages sent when sending non-ASCII characters.

- Java KVM where the size of Clip Area for Static Gauge has been improved

- Improvement in receiving SMS messages. SMS is decoded correctly when received by a Java application.

- The JAD attribute, Nokia-SMS-Handler must now start with a value that starts by com.nokia.sms://

- Increased Java download size to 60 kB.

- During Java download, do not accept JADs containing empty lines with spaces since these JADs are not accepted by the KVM and the MIDlet suite cannot be run.

- Optimization of native application shut down, when the KVM has been shut down.

- Certificates now processed properly when connecting via http using a secure connection.

- Details in MIDlet Suite option menu now show MIDlet-properties.

- If the download server responds with a 200 OK message with a non-empty string, an error message must not be shown.

- Support for 254 character JAR URLs added.

- Change to ensure that long MIDlet names in JAD files are handled properly.

- When download is followed up by sending an HTTP POST request with the download status, the phone doesn’t display an error message, when it received the reply to this request.

- Java compliance improvement

- Having a textbox open and simultaneously initiate a HTTP connection functionality improved

- Language, Display Text, Icon

- Added accent support in Hungarian, Czech, Polish, Romanian, Slovenian, and Turkish T9 languages.

- Implementation of Serbian and Croatian input.

- Arabic/Hebrew Language Pack improvements:

- Display of texts with more than 42 characters in Arabic has been improved.

- Square sign shows in confirmation note "T9 dictionary on/off" messages, has now been improved.

- In "Missed Calls " the text (no number) in Arabic is shown correctly.

- The level bars, (e.g., volume bars or game level bars) is displayed correctly.

- Alterations to the Analogue Clock display. Updated background bitmap, so it now has same width and height.

- The following softkeys have been changed

- When exiting a GMS, the softkey has been changed from VIEW to OK, but the functionality when pressing OK is still the same as when pressing VIEW.

- Right softkey 'Quit' in game settings is now 'Back'

- When pressing exit after receiving a picture message, the softkey in the save query is now 'OK' instead of 'View'.

- Back stepping changes to Call stacks have been implemented.

- Title row "Countdown timer" in German is now changed.

- Messaging

- Change in handling Unicode characters upon SMS sending in order to support accented characters not included in the standard GSM Alphabet. The SMS editor now automatically detects if Unicode characters are entered (E.g. special characters not in the GSM alphabet). If Unicode characters are entered in an SMS, the whole SMS message will automatically be converted to Unicode characters, in order for all characters to be sent correctly. Due to the automatically handling of Unicode characters there is no longer a manual menu options for character support in message settings.

- Unicode SMS's holds more data (approx. the double); hence Character counter/SMS counter in upper right corner is now able to show up to 7 SMS (up to 7 SMSs is used for a full 459 concatenated SMS using Unicode, non-Unicode still uses up to 3 SMS). This will have impact on receiving phones without Unicode capability.

- Improvement to the handling of a GMS when received. END_KEY is able to delete the queue.

- Cursor positioning correction in Message editor.

- WAP

- Discarding OTA-message with END-key has been improved.

- Open the list, either by pressing green call button, or choosing options->open list. Then Use the up/down keys to scroll to an item not currently selected. Press the green call button to indicate that this item should be selected. The final state of the phone is: displaying the selection list.

- Changes using call button in WML select or mark in selection lists.

- The phone is capable to handle GIF file, which have the height or width bigger than 256 pixels.

- WAP PUSH Default setting is “ON” in Service Inbox.

- If started from long press 0 or home page, and the download page has a card/deck, a blank page is not shown after downloading content with preview rights only.

- The scrolling password editor of the WAP setting has now been improved.
