Data Cable not connecting to phone on 8390 :(

I bought this Data Cable from the web for 8310 which i've been told is the equivalent for 8390 in canada.
As Seen Below

What software should i use ? ( i have a year contract with company)
I don't need to unlock it but unlocking it would be nice for the future.

But i bought it so i can download my Phone book into it (a lot easier to type on PC than on the Phone)
And change Operator Logo and Add Songs.. Etc.

All the software i tried didn't detected it :(
any ideas ?

Here's what i did
I had taken out the platic thing for the sim card.
Put in my sim card on Data Cable
Connnected battery and put in the data cable.
I can use the phone perfectly with the cable in (so i know sim card is connected properly) but no communication between cell and pc on COM1 or COM2.
Maybe i am using the wrong softwares :(

I dont think if u can unlock ur phone wit the free unlockers thats available! As your SW version is very new! But try the attached SW!! ;)

You still havent mentioned what 'ALL' the software and the version# of that software that you tried.

For the phone book theres many alternative methods to getting that transfered...
1. Use a SIM CARD READER and Software
2. Put you sim card in ANY other model phone that you do have a working cable for and download it there and then just pop your sim back in your 8390
3. Infrared it to the 8390
4. Sms it to the 8390
etc...

You mentioned not really being concerned with unlocking...but to let you know the software 'swiftie' mentioned will NOT work with firmware ver 7.80

Swiftie> Your software didn't work but I am going to try my laptop and my other pc Tommorrow. (which is a normal proceedure because for some reason my main machine or laptop doesn't alwayz do it but P2 works like a charm... go figure)

Operator Logo ??.. And i've done that to put the rest of my 60 ppl to my address book (saved to phone memory shoved sim card and told it transfter to sim :)

True... if i can only find something other than my laptop that can sync with it. if there is a USB to inferared thing (will check for one)
4. Sms it to the 8390
etc...
I do SMS it now but it's a PAIN. + i want to do stuff like send PICTURES and change operator LOGO which i can't threw SMS.

When i push unlock the modem starts to flash test mode test mode after the 3rd time it would shut off (Even if i waited 5 minutes it won't turn back oN)

i get this

Entering test mode & Rebooting phone...
ERROR: Phone does not answer!

Check phone connection, and that phone is powered on!


here are how i installed the cable just incase (such a pain to remove the Sim plastic on the phone.

Like I said! Ur fone's SW version is 2 new for the UNLOCKER!

I think the unlocker can only unlock up to SW version::..

i want the data cable as a link up
to change Operator Logo and such

it only works with mbus cable.
I used to unlocked over 10 of 8390s all version v7.0~v7.8 with no problem even on 3590s.
I use Logomanager 1.28 and 1.29 for upload logos and ringtones via same cable and IR all the time.

I opened up my cable and took some pictures. Because i am not sure, looking at the schematic of the Mbus and this... Let's just say i am more of a software guy :).

If someone could tell me if this is an Mbus or what and if not how to convert it into an MBus

find the wires colour which will cut off, easy cut off on middle of cable, for reconnect to use in the future.

OTW just cut them off behind the pins.

Ehhh.. I am looking at it from the inside and here's what i saw. Are you sure it's those two wires...
Because look it's one wire soldered on two.

I used a multimeter to find out where each ping goes.

on the Serial Cable (DB-9)

2 - Blue (1.5 Resistance)
- White (1.2 Resistance )
- Red (1 Resistance)

3 - White (1.87 Resistance)
- Black (1.9 Resistance)

4 - White (1.8 Resistance)

5 - Black (no reistance)
- White (0.524 Resistance)

7 - Red (1.975 Resistance)
- White (1.6 Resistance)

8 - Blue (1.6 Resistance)
- White (1.3 Resistance)
- Red (1.2 Resistance)

you have to take out the sim card and the sim cover.

But i know sim card and all are good contact
i can call and use the phone when the cable is connected.
