I've been using PPMedit v1.0acrack to add startup/shutdown in my 3315 (3310convrtd) fon and found no problem. At PPMedit open flash file > click ringtones >select MCU ringtone 21 > select load (its better to load ringtone in re format). then flash.

What's important here is you know the address where to add the startup tone. In 3310/3315, its MCU ringtone 21. i've tried many times.
hope it helps

Thanx Kabayan!

I just downloaded before the ADDSTARTUPTONE txt from Ed2k too still no time to do and follow the instruction..

'bout what u've said, i think it's easier to do it too... i'll try doing it too....

BTW, is the location for all 3310s startup at mcu_21?

But must not exceed the hex length too, right? :)

Tried also to change sms tone in 5110 b4, but unluckily got CS. I clicked on update on the three buttons... Should i still do it?

Thanx! :)

In 3310 fons, i've tried versions 5.55 to 5.79, its all in MCU ringtone 21, nd got no probs at all (not yet, he he). i didn't even click any of 3 updates button. all i did was load tone in re format (i did not use any other format), find 070B at the near end part of hex and change it to 0BC0 (to kill the infinity of tone) then save the flash file.
What i've experienced when i click the update, theres 08 at the beginning of hex added and it produced a "humming sound" (sometimes distorted). Before, I always have to delete it after hitting update. But now, i didnot touch the update after changing 0BC0 and it updates itself. I did not bother the length of the tone hex, but i select a not-too-long tone (ex.pajulinto- one of my favs). Other model? i've not tried yet. Maybe somebody have the heart to share the MCU ringtone address of the startup tone in PPMedit on some models....
hope it helps.

okay no need as others to post which one is the startup tone, you can find out yourself, just look for which mcu tone which start as "0001FFA7", then its the startup tone.

I guess you are using rtx/rttl tone file which contain special effect like s=n,s=s..ppmedit still unable to convert those special notes properly, use normal ringtone file without special effect.

try this...in PPMEdit

5110/3210

mcu # 10 - tone 4 keypadlock/batcharge/time
mcu # 15 - starup tone

No need to load tones just open another ppmedit, just copy and paste and update dont 4get to play

Important...
1. in HEX DATA change 07 B0 to 0B C0 and update, remove 80 80 at at the start and update(esp. at the msg alert this will reduce the volume of ur tone)

3. always check HEX DATA

Guys, I think I have a problem. I have a favourite ringtones and I wanna put it as start up tones but the ringtones seemed too long. This is what I do. The tones from a 8250 Flash and I wanna copy it to my 3350. I open the 8250 Flash with ppmedit then cut short the ringtones in the center section. Copied it and open the 3350 flash and paste in the same section. Funny thing is I dun see the 070B thing or neither the mentioned. So I add 0BC0 or 0B46C0 (from a tutorial) and the tone sound great but still it keep repeating. Where did I go wrong? please help? Thanks!

Thanks Ryan_Chong! I have used that program too but it didnt really worked for me. I think maybe i miss interpreted. The ringtone that i like is about 24sec in length and now i wan about half of the ringtone. so in ppmedit the middle section i shorten the length by deleting the (code?). The ringtone goes shorter but it kept repeating. I save the original tone (Full length) into text and I delete half of it and load to my 3350 yet i dun see the 07B0 thingy. I tried flash but still it repeated. Sorry for my english but I hope you can understand what I m trying to say. Thanks! I also tried adding blinking sms features into it. It only blink on my phone but once send to others it didn't blink at all. I wonder why? I did tried on clean flash of 3315 and it worked.

Hi,

Hi, I found this at the NokiaFree DOCS (http://nokiafree.org/docs/ppm_tone.html) area:

Repeat 17 (11 in hex) times: 0511.........06

Use 0501.........06 to remove the repeat.

Removing 070B is not wise, then U remove the tone end marker.

That might help.

Thanks NokDoc! :) I have tried it out on my 3350 and it worked but now the vibration seemed repeating. It will not stop unless some function with tone is activated. Sorry for the trouble. i have tried many days and its kinda tiring to read and write flash. Hehe! Cheers!:D

@ming

check this at hex
0A 01 is for vibra on
0A FE _ vibra off
remove all 0A 01 then update.
