Q: when you hard reset do you lose your contacts as well?

I've been meaning to hard reset my phone to clean it up, i was just wondering if i'll lose any of my contacts of just the apps i installed.

yep! you lose all info on the fon(as well as contacts). so b4 u do the hard reset, do a back up(PC Suite) of your fon...

and after resetting the fon(w/c usually takes arnd 2-3 mins) restore your contacts only(PC Suite). that way you get to keep your contacts and have a clean mem.

but if its just the CONTACTS ALONE you want to stay, then i suggest you just copy them to your SIM CARD. Then do a hard-reset. coz using backup from data suite also backups 'waste' files, meaning files that are no longer in use by any app. so if you want a 'clean' phone and backup ONLY CONTACTS, just copy them to your simcard then after the hard reset has been performed, just copy the contents of your sim again to your phone. i hope it helped.

but then i only retain the phone numbers and not the other details right?

jep.. and you loose the little thumbnails that belongs to the contacts :(

back-up your fon. Then on the RESTORE box, uncheck everything except for the "Contacts." Then hit on the Restore button.

after restoration, all your thumbnails will still be included less the other info stored prev on ur fon!:)
