help: can i modify\edit firmware programs? how?

i want add functionality to the english-chinese dictionary in my 6108.

how can i modify the existing firmware? the change would be quite easy in c++ but i cannot get the nokia firmware in that language i guess.
so how can i resolve this? what is the approach?


what-i-need-procedure :: hand write character>>the display shall display the enlish translation and the bopomofo( 注音\pronounciation fontset) >>>(so i know how to pronounce it)

current procedure phone set in english :: hand write character>>the display displays the enlish translation (only)
(current procedure phone set in chinese :: type bopomofo>>select a chin. character from the list>>the dict. will display the character and the english translation)
