Bluetooth drivers... can't install on XP SP2... HELP...

hello guys...

please help me... i don't want to use the SP2 built in Bluetooth driver...

so i have to install my own drivers... but i can't install it... my BT Dongle is Billionton... i've been using it for ages but when i reformat and reinstall my XP Pro this time with SP2... i can't seem to pass the installation process...

when the actual installation is going it is always interrupted and can't continue... how come...

i downloaded the latest billionton driver... even get the widcomm 1.4.3.2 and the latest widcomm 4.01...

still after asking where to save... upon clicking the next button... it always interrupted... saying it was interrupted...

i attach the screenshot so you could see it... please help me...

similar problem here

Hello

I too have a Billionton USB Bluetooth adaptor and struggled with it for a long time, being unable to get it to work 100 %. It still doesn't, but i gave up on it. It's just not going to happen.

I too use XP SP2.

Even after i installed the correct driver (1.4.2.11, which is the latest) i can only send files from PC to phone (3650, 6600 and 6260), not from phone to PC. Serial connection, PC Suite etc everything works. My problem is that a balloon, which would signal the incoming file on the PC and let me click on it to accept that file, won't show up.

I contacted Billionton via their forum, and their response was to blame me for being too stupid to set my phone (!) the correct way. Their last reply said i should "Reinstall the OS". No thanks.

In your case i would recommend to boot the PC in safe mode and with the administrator account to install Billionton's software from the CD. Do NOT plug in the bluetooth device! Just install the software, and when it asks to connect the device, click "cancel" and let the software continue. Then reboot the PC and connect the device. Windows will now install it's own driver and you need to change that.

Open the "Device Manager" under "Control Panel - System". See on the top of the list "Bluetooth Radios". There should be two: Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator and some other. Right click that other one, and select "update driver".

Have your Billionton CD in the drive and select "install from list or known location". Browse for the correct driver ("Billionton USB Bluetooth Device") and select that driver. Complete installation and reboot once again.

Now in the taskbar you should see your bluetooth icon, it should be blue-white now. If so, you're ready to configure the device and the services you wish to use with it.

Good luck

Kind regards......

your Thanh

hello...

i have that problem too with billionton software before i upgrade my system from SP1 to SP2...

there is no balloon showing up when i upload from PHONE to PC... but when you right click the BT logo on the taskbar... it will show up eventually... asking you to accept the files... you have the option to accept from this device permanently...

just right click the BT logo at the taskbar... don't wait for the balloon popup...

just try it...

BTW... i did boot at SAFE MODE still i can't install the software... this time the warning is

i maybe at the safe mode so that i can't install the software or my Windows Installer is corrupted...

where can i download this Windows Installer...???

hope you can help me...

thanks in advance...

not here :..(

Hello

Thank you for reply. I am just testing your method now.... won't work. If i right-click on the BT icon, it gives me the following option:

Explore My Bluetooth Places
Bluetooth Setup Wizard
Advanced Configuration
Quick Connect (with sub menu for connection options, but no "receive files")
Stop Bluetooth Device

But when i had the Windows driver installed, there was that "receive files" but with THAT i could not send from PC to phone.

If your Windows Installer is corrupted, just re-run Windows setup. Put in the Windows CD and run setup, but just install over the old one (no install from scratch). This should fix the installer.

I noticed you have a pretty outdated driver... why don't you download the newer version from Billionton's website and try that first? Maybe your old version is not compatible with XP SP2 at all. The driver is avilable at www.billionton.com but it's a rather large download (27 MB).

Kind regards.....

your Thanh

errr guys...sadly the software you are using with your device is way outdated....

already the WIDCOMM stack is at the 4.0.1.700 version (with headset profile too...answer you calls thru ur PC)

only problem is the licensing arangements with WIDCOMM means that Billington/Belkin etc must pay for the upgrade...which as you can see they wont...

solution...search widcomm hacks on google...theres ways around it...

and believe me...version 4.1.700 is the buzz dudes...haven't regeted it since...

cheers

ps...i was using 1.4.2 etc myself before...and now I'm on cloud nine...my bluetooth device works the way I payed it to work...

software is just buttons for a device...it should never have been made into reality and given a patent...it never exists...

now go find those files...i dare u oh and heres a clue...
http://brobin111.blogspot.com/2005/0...work-with.html

and the links on that page wont get u the widcomm version 4.0.1.700 either...had to find em elsewhere...

but it sure gave me the clue
