Solution: For those who can't access through WAP

I noticed a few of you had a problem. You couldn't access the internet through Opera, NetFront, Doris or WebViewer because you only had a WAP access point. Well, I had the same problem.

Here's how I solved it:
1. Make a copy of your current wap access point in case you screw up.
2. In that one, set your gateway IP to whatever your provider uses (I emailed Tmobile for mine. It was 216.155.165.50) I'll dig up a list of them if you need them...

3. I opened:
a. Doris: Went to preferences. Set the copy access point for your connection. Scroll down to Proxy IP Address and enter the same as the gateway IP. For Proxy port, I entered 8080.
b. Netfront: Settings/Connection tab/enable proxy: yes/same proxy host as gateway IP/8080 for port again.

etc.

It works perfectly now. :)
Except that some pages might be truncated by the wap server (only VERY large pages on Doris so far.)

No replies. I'm wondering if this worked for anyone else.

Well, from what I read here, it seems people got it working only by switching to a non-wap access point (and paying extra for it.)

GPRS is cheaper...

This IS GPRS. :lol:
It's a way to use your wap GPRS with 3rd party browsers so that you can use it because it's cheaper.

GPRS is definately expensive. Sharing an internet connection through bluetooth would be an ultimate success. Imagine the number of people who will switch to bluetooth to access the internet like WiFi is taking over the market. GPRS will die.... or at least maybe stay awake to just cover areas where WiFi and Bluetooth aren't provided. Die GPRSSSSSSS

Well, I pay only $4.99 a month for unlimited access, so it's not expensive to me. :)

As for the bluetooth, it's way to short a distance to be helpful. It's great to transfer files and stuff, though.
