Hey guys im new to this stuff.
I was just wondering if it is possible to flash mobiles by Infra-Red? i was wondering if some flasher programs could flash the phone through there infra-red acting as COM ports?

I know if it does have a chance of working that way it would be very dodgy and possible stuff up the fone all together but i was just wondering if it is possible to flash through infra-red. Thanx ppl

no, it´s not possible, for flashing u need a HARDWARE CONNECTION!!!

think about, if u flash the phone, MCU SOFTWARE must be earased,and reflash, and how could Infrared could work if there is no software to control it on the phone??

for flashing, you need a flasher cable, as well as a M/BUS cable..correct? can an IR device replace the need for a M/BUS cable?

You need an Mbus/Fbus cable running through a COM port to reset SP locks, update FAID and change IMEI.

I had the same problem, i bought a data cable to update my phone software because the store where I bought it from said it could be done. Then they told me I needed a flasher cable instead of a data cable. So I returned the data cable and got a flasher cable.

Then I found out I needed both a Flasher and Mbus/Fbus cable to fully update phone software.

Now that I have both, I have had no problems. I used Knok - Phoenix (Build 1) to Flash, reset SP locks, update FAID and change IMEI, everything works fine.

I was unable to find any programs that could use the IR to reset SP, update FAID and change IMEI. The only program I know of that can use IR to do anything to my phone is Logomanager, but it can only change ringtones, logos and send SMS.
