there is definitely new firmware out - 4.36 i think....as far as i know you have to go see your Nokia dealer to upgrade it.
Just go to a noki club and ask for an upgrade...it's free
Yep - I can only speak for Germany:
Version: 4.36 "only for Vodafone D 2" (with speciall settings)
Version: 4.39 "regular" for other Providers.
I get a flash update yesterday. All user have guarantee, soon and at "Nokia Club Members" it is definitivly for free.
For my security I say at the NSC, I have software probs since many days, often "hung" the phone and I must replace the battery. But this is not a normal condition, I want, please, the actuall firmware update. Thats all and the people do it without probs. For free. If they have time to flashing, you must wait 30 minutes.

do i need to remove all the 3rd party programs before flashing new firmware?
will the programs is be there after flashing if i didnt remove them?
Hi,
after my up-flashing to 4.39 all my installed datas and progs are ok. BUT: No NSC guarantees these. If you want a "backup" you have to pay.
My suggestion: Like the PC, its better to save all pics, data, contacts and so on. Either a full backup via Nokia suit or - and this is better - you transfer all files via IRda or BT to the PC. And the contacts you can transfer it too Outlook. This works great.
Finally: You get the best result, to make a full reset (*#7370#) after firmware flashing. Then you have a new, blank system what really works. Than you make re-installs of your progs and file datas. Imprtant: Be sure for the reset: The batterie is in a good condition and DONT interuppt this action (can kills all). Type the code in and wait patient. If you asked for an secret code, type 12345. Thats all.
