    Change phone operating frequency?

Right now I have cellular one for mobile service. It blows, but I'm stuck with it for the time being.

I have a nokia 3650 (unlocked) that I cannot use on their network right now because of the frequencies the phones operate on (900/1800/1900). I really wanted to get another nokia to work with this network preferablly the n90, but I know it's not going to work if i did it because it uses the same frequencies as my 3650.

The phone I am using now is 850/900/1800/1900, I get some confusing answers from cell one when I try and ask them what frequencies they are operating on. Does this mean they are only broadcasting on 850, or possibly 850 and 800. I'm not sure.

Basically my question is, is there any way that I can modify my 3650 to operate on say 850 instead of the other frequencies? Would this involve more of a firmware change or more of a hardware change? Has anyone ever attempted anything like this before?

    Any insight would be appreciated.

ok here we go again i say this because people have posted before wanting to change the frequencies of thier phones only to be told its far to complicated!!

for your phone to operate on 850 would need not only firmware changes but also a PM file from a phone thats already operating on 850MHz... you would also need to make some MAJOR hardware changes, for example, you may need to change the RF IC, Rx Filters, PA, Diplexor etc... so you would need either access to these parts or another scrap phone where you can salvage these parts from!!

you would need in addition to the parts, a lot of service equipment to fit them, like a hot air rework station (not cheap) and a flash box (also not the cheapest item) and you will also have to tune the phone once you get it going!!

if you decide to undertake this task then please post your progress!!!
