Credit via sms???

About a year ago i received a text from a company that deducted £1.50 from my credit account, the next day i received a text from 02 apologising for the text and saying that they had credited £5 to my phone. when i went to the main screen the phone had been credited like the text said.

How could they have done this?

would it be possible to do?

Quite easily! You're obviously an O2 customer!? When you "Top-up", who do you think credits your account? With regards to the text msg, certain charities and the likes have now designed sort of a Premium rate SMS number! Just like ringing a tarot line or something, they charge you more then a local call! There was a joke about this about 6mths ago, where you would recieve a txt saying, "Send 'Give 2' to 57775 for a good laugh!" This was one of the large charities sms number, you then got a msg back thanking you for donating 2 Euro! This was taken from your account! This was started by some punk, and swept across Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland in no time! I got stung, but as did everyone else, thought it was a bit of a laugh, so I passed it on to unsuspecting friends! What was not so funny is the "Give 10" msgs some people got!!! Hope this clears up your thinking!
