5210 any hope?!

Been given a dead 5210, the history I was given was that it just did'nt turn on in the morning. Since taking it apart it would appear someone beat me to this stage, as there is a component missing. (Learnt a valuble lesson there, I wont beleive what im told about a fault before I look now)

It is the 'block' (n400 irda I think) in the lower right hand corner (keypad down) with 12 contact points. Can some one tell me what this component is and what it does, also is it possible to source one, as I'd like to have a go a fixing the damn thing, even if it does look a bit bodgy

Ok, I now know what the part is, its the block which the infrareds sit on, underneath the block there are 10 solder pads, is it possible to link them out to get the phone running? I'm not bothered about the IR, I'd just like to try and bring some life back into the phone. Is there anyone out there with enough knowledge of what goes where from those pads for me tro try the link out. If it totaly kills the phone, so be it, after all it was free.
