Nokia 6610 USB Data Cable work for a 6100?

does anyone out there know if a usb data cable (NKI 6610) also
work for a 6100 fone? it fits into the 6100 but the cable has that sticker
that says (NKI 6610). I've tried several programs but seems like the fone can be detected but when i try to unlock it, i get errors saying that the fone is not connected or some other type of error. anyone out there encounter this similar problem? or am i doing someting wrong ? .. thanks.

by the way, i am running on Windows XP and the driver for the usb cable makes it be detected as a serial port (COMx).

Yeah, you can use that data cable for the 6100 as well.... and also for many others, namely ALL that have the same connector (Pop-Port) on the bottom.

BUT you can NOT use that type of cable to unlock the phone! That cable is used to transfer ringtones and images (wallpapers) to and from the phone.

To unlock you just post your phone model, IMEI number (press *#06# to get it) and the network you're locked to into the correct section (DCT4 unlocking requests) and someone will provide you with a code and instructions.

ahh ic. that explains it. so i guess u can't flash the fone with that usb cable either right? or can you?

btw, i have tried the codes to unlock it but the thing is, i don't know which specific ORANGE network it's locked to because there is an Orange network in belgium, uk, switzerland, and i think france but im not sure.

so of i did try with all of those options to get the code but as u can see it will take more than 5x times to try and guess which code is right. heheh obviously i used up my 5x tries to unlock it.

guess i have to get a different type of cable then or maybe just throw this fone away.

anyhow, thanks for your help. you just saved me lots of time trying to unlock this fone.

Hi there

No, for sure you can't flash a phone with such cable either. To flash it, you will need a DCT-4 flasher and special software.

Yopu can use a F-Bus cable which connects under the battery of your phone and the software "bwinlock" to unlock that phone.... have a look thru the forums here, i am sure you'll find a "manual" on how to do that.

Or, if you want to throw the phone away, just let me know.... i'll give you an address where you can send it too I can always use a free phone.....
