I recently got given a 6230 which doesnt ring and the up key doesnt work.

Ive orderd a new loudspeaker off ebay as they were cheap and i know i'll be able to change it and see if that fixes the ringing/loudspeaker not working issue.

now for the up key am i likely to have to replace the membrane pcb to get that working or is there anything else i should try first, not that worried about it as if changing the loudspeaker fixes the ringing im probably going to use it for work but just wanted to check if theres anything i can do to it to persuade that up button to work.

the other thing is theres a sorta splodge on the screen, i mean the backlight differs in brightness in a sorta sploge shape, possible water damage?


Not going to spend a fortune fixing it up but if i can get that up button fixed it would be great. (thats if changing the speaker fixes the ringing)

your right... liquid damage is a certainty!!

the loud speaker isnt caused by the speaker but by the Audio Amp on the board, which requires first cleaning then reflowing... if you replace the speaker though and it brings it back then fair play!!!

the button not working is a different story... i have had a few 6230's with just one button not working and havent been able to fix it... i can tell you, when you have managed to get a phone to power up, then fixed the ringer AND the SIM reader only to be beaten by a single button... its a NIGHTMARE!!!!
