    Problems with ngage music player

Ok...problems....ther was this one music track on my memory card that every time i played it it'd get so far then skip, today i tried to delete it (using the delete command in the actual music player). then it all went mental, i went into the mmc with fexplorer and the deleted tracks were still there...so i deleted them anyway. now i cant get into music player at all, i just get a system error help!

i dont really want to but if a format is neccessary can someone talk me thru the options and how to do it etc (plus it will keep all sim contacts right?)

    thanks!

mkay idk how to do a format on n-gage so you'll have to ask someone else about that. But before you do MAKE SURE YOU DO EVERYTHING I'M ABOUT TO SAY. Backup your phone memory (it's in the memory options under extras) onto an MMC. Take it out. Next, take out your sim so as to not risk deleting any of your sim contacts. THEN you can format your phone memory, but make sure you have your phone plugged in when you clean format it. And truth is, unless you had a lot of progs on your phone (I only keep seleQ and a few small utilities on there to save space) You won't be hurting that much afterwards. After you clean format the phone it should be like it was the day you got it. Then put your sim and MMC back in and restore your phone from the backup on the MMC (this option is in the same place as the backup option) and your phone should be fine. If it's not, do it all over. But this time you'll have to uninstall everything from your phone before you back it up and when you DO back it up, do so on a clean, newly formatted MMC (that means you'll end up with the N-Gage with no 3rd party progs, like the day you got it, but you should still have your contacts and stuff).

Sorry if this is confusing, and it might not all be necessary, but I had an episode once where I completely deleted my contacts in THREE DIFFERENT F-ING PLACES and was almost completely screwed except for my 3 month old computer copy. I lost some numbers that I'll probably never get back, so I'm just tryin to keep it from happening to someone else.

lol yeah, all of us here at NFree cant stress enough to back up your contacts etc before a format. lost all my contacts twice when i had the firmware upgraded. luckily most of my friends hadnt changed their numbers so i had most of them on my old pay and go sim. but i always add any new contacts to my phonememory and sim card now just incase.

dunno if this works with n-gage but try *#7370# to format. this should wipe C: clean and copy all the original files from Z: back onto C:

Yeah, that is the format code.

I've started to back up my contacts regularly now; I've had my contacts completely wiped off my phone many times.

    ok, great thanks

do you think it'd be neccessary to format the phone though? i mean, what could the problem be, a conflict or something?

sorry, but just to clear up, i back up my phone memory to my current mmc which has all my stuff on it (dont realy want to wipe that if possible) and if that doesnt work, i have to use a clean mmc? or have i understood that wrong

    thanks
