SIM cards

Hello, I was wondering what is a SIM card, what does it do, and is it a real card of a virtual thing. Also, what does SMS stand for? And how can i change my SIM card to accquire free minutes, or change service providers (if possible)?

A sim Card is a real thing! It will be in the back of your phone under your battery, it's made of plastic and has a littles metal plate in it! The sim card hold all the information that is needed to identify you rather then the next person with a mobile! It holds your phone number info, txt messages, phone numbers, etc. SMS stands for Short Messaging Service, I think!??? We here at NokiaFREE cannot provide you with "Free" minutes, but I can give you some tips!!!

1) Have more then one prepaid simcard! Some providers will allow you to call cheaper to someone who is also on your network! Swap your sim around for savings!
2) As above, the same principle may apply to SMS!
3) Use your phone in OFF peak hours (check with your provider for times)

A SIM card is a little IC that comes from your network provider and allows you to connect to their network. It contains:

Your phone number
SIM Specific details (for credit handling etc)
Phone numbers (If you choose to use your SIMs memory)

You can't change your SIM for free minutes, unless you unlock your phone (That means that you can use any SIM card, nothing else!), then go and buy a contract SIM card and pay monthly and get free minutes from that. Generally you don't get free stuff in life.
