Cable problem

Hi all,I have a problem with my nokia cable.Up untill now it has been working well.The wires have broken at the base of the cable plug.I have now soldered the three wires together IE; blue to blue,white to white & black to black.I have checked tat none of the wires are touching but when i try to use it,i have an error message saying that the phone is not connected.I have tried different phones and also different programs but still getting this error message.The cable i am using is the nokia DCT3 fixer kit MD J6 MBUS LEAD.
Any help on this one guys.

Just buy a new one! They're dirt cheap!!!
