Having problems getting Nokia Datasuite 5.1 to behave on a Windows98SE, 256Mb, 20Gb, PC when connecting a 6610 handset using a DKU 5 USB cable through a USB mini hub.

Software installs OK, handset is recognised by Connection Manager, Contacts are synchronised with MSOutlook 97 OK. Then my "long established" Epson PageManager scanner application freezes & "stops responding". Then the nightmare begins...

Restart PC gives yellow exclamation in System Devices under Multiport adapter, red cross on Port1 on USB serial adapter. Have to then remove DKU 5 driver & Datasuite 5.1 then reinstall both in the correct sequence connecting the cable as the last step.

Everything then works fine until the vicious cycle starts again...

Nokia have advised doubling my RAM (which I did without success). Does 5.1 make 98SE unstable? Is it a USB mini hub conflict? Should I source different scanner software? I can't be sure other applications are not affected but I am focusing on the scanner at the moment.

It's all taking far too long to achieve a simple operation. Is something obvious being missed? Should I switch the handset off before connecting the DKU 5 cable for example?

Can anyone help me?
