How 2 check whether fone is sim-blocked?

i think i bought it sim-free, eg not locked to any network, just wanted to check that's why I'm asking

I don't think there's a code to check (I very much doubt that there is one) but the easiest way (only way?) is to borrow a SIM card from a different network (from a friend?) and try it in your phone...
