NGAGE Bluetooth Profile

Hi all,

I have a question. Does the NGAGE support the Headset Profile or Handsfree Profile for Bluetootth Headsets? Because i have a Bluetooh Headset that supports only the Headset Profile and while trying to pair with my NGAGE, the NGAGE says that the heaset "Does not support Handsfree Profile", connects with the headset and disconnects.

With another Bluetooth headset (ironically from Sony Ericsson : ) which supports both Headset and Handsfree Profiles it connects and works fine (or atleast as fine as i can hope for it too! I have to keep the Bluetooth on as "Shown to all" and if i go out of range, it have to connect with the headset again).

Both Headsets work fine with a (gulp!) Sony Ericsson Phone though

Any ideas or comments?

Chances are it's restricted to headsets developed by Nokia only. On a search of available BT services with my computer, the N-Gage didn't display either the headset or handsfree profile.

But then that would mean that SE Bluetooth Headset wouldn't work. But it does.. Hmm.. Any other ideas? I did a scan too.. And it didnt show up either. But the HBH - 200 works fine, and so did the Nokia HDW 2. So it should be supporting some sort of standard. Just wanted some input on what it is.

Sorry, I never read over your post properly and missed that bit about the SE headset working

I'm probably not the best person to help you out tho, as I don't own any headsets myself. My Motorola A830 does however pair with my PC and I'm able to use its speakers and microphone to talk (useless really, I know), but my N-Gage does not.

I'd say its just that support for different headsets is patchy. It's probably a hit and miss affair with BT headsets and Nokia.
